8-Day Jordan History Tour from Amman with Petra and the Dead Sea

• Upon arrival at Amman Airport, our representative will meet you with a sign after you pass through customs.

• Transfer to your hotel in Amman for an overnight stay.

• Start the day with a city tour of Amman after breakfast.

• Visit the Amphitheater, Jordan Folklore Museum, and the Citadel.

• Drive north to Jerash, the best example of a Roman provincial city in the whole Middle East.

• Visit the spectacular Forum, Roman street, the Nymphaeum, and Artemis Temple.

• Return to your hotel in Amman for an overnight stay.

• Start the tour to the Desert Castles in eastern Jordan.

• Visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site Amra Castle with its zodiac dome and early examples of Umayyad fresco paintings. You will also see the fortress-like and mysterious Qasr Kharanah, as well as the black basalt Roman-Medieval Islamic fort at Azraq.

• Drive to Kerak along the famous ancient biblical caravan route, the King's Way.

• Make a short stop in Wadi Al-Mujib, a great wide valley with magnificent geological formations.

• Visit Kerak, the famous Crusader castle built in 1132/34 by King Baldwin I of Jerusalem.

• Continue to Petra for an overnight stay.

• Visit the red rose city of Petra, the biggest attraction in Jordan. Petra was first established around the 6th century B.C. by the Nabataean Arabs, a nomadic tribe who settled in the area and founded a commercial empire.

• Start the trip on horseback or on foot through the canyon to reach the so-called Siq.

• Then walk to Petra's most beautiful monument, the Treasury.

• From here, explore the Street of Facades, the Royal Tombs, and Pharaoh's Castle.

• In the morning, drive 1.5 hours south to the protected area of Wadi Rum, one of the most impressive desert landscapes in the world. Here, Bedouins still live in a traditional way.

• Continue to Aqaba on the Red Sea, where the rest of the day is free.
