Ausangate and Vinicunca Rainbow Mountain Adventure
Early pick-up begins at your hotel in Cusco at approximately 5:00-5:20 am. Your bus ride follows the southern route from Cusco for about 3 hours, passing through many colourful colonial towns before reaching Pitumarca District, where you will have breakfast and prepare for the hike ahead.
Return to the bus and continue for another 1 and a half hours along the Salcca Valley. Along the way, pass through various hidden landscapes of traditional living within the Rainbow Mountain region, including red valleys, amazing rock formations, terraces in the mountains, and herds of alpacas and llamas - all of which complement this sacred journey.
Begin at the head of the hiking trail at 4,850 m / 15,912 ft and ascend for about 45 minutes to 1 hour to reach the viewpoint at 5,000 m / 16,404 ft.
Witness unique views of Ausangate, the highest snow-capped mountain in Cusco at 6,375 m / 20,915 ft, as well as the three Rainbow mountains, displaying their unique colour formations and revealing their internal history. Enjoy being away from the crowds in your own space and take time to explore the area, absorb this treasured and personal experience, and relax.
After observing the amazing painted landscapes, descend back to the bus and return to the restaurant in Pitumarca District, where you had breakfast, for lunch.
Head back to Cusco and be dropped off at Regocijos Square.
