Douro Valley, Amarante and Pinhão Discovery
Meet your local guide and begin the tour in Porto.
Leave the city and head towards the Douro Valley, a unique place where the combination of climate, river, and man's efforts gave rise to the first demarcated region for producing Port wine. At first glance, you will come across a picturesque setting, verdant landscapes, and lush nature.
Make your first stop in the charming town of Amarante. This ancient town is filled with fine Romanesque architecture. While there, visit the 16th-century Monastery of São Gonçalo on the banks of the river, as well as the lovely Roman Bridge.
Leave Amarante, pass through Peso da Régua, and arrive in Pinhão. Visit the traditional train station, adorned with historic tiles depicting the region's culture.
After lunch, embark on a traditional riverboat (Rebelo) in Pinhão and enjoy even more spectacular scenery. Alternatively, continue the wine tour at the famous award-winning winery of Sandeman Quinta do Seixo.
