Day 01

Douro Valley, Amarante and Pinhão Discovery

  • Meet your local guide and begin the tour in Porto.

  • Leave the city and head towards the Douro Valley, a unique place where the combination of climate, river, and man's efforts gave rise to the first demarcated region for producing Port wine. At first glance, you will come across a picturesque setting, verdant landscapes, and lush nature.

  • Make your first stop in the charming town of Amarante. This ancient town is filled with fine Romanesque architecture. While there, visit the 16th-century Monastery of São Gonçalo on the banks of the river, as well as the lovely Roman Bridge.

  • Leave Amarante, pass through Peso da Régua, and arrive in Pinhão. Visit the traditional train station, adorned with historic tiles depicting the region's culture.

  • After lunch, embark on a traditional riverboat (Rebelo) in Pinhão and enjoy even more spectacular scenery. Alternatively, continue the wine tour at the famous award-winning winery of Sandeman Quinta do Seixo.
