Mamoiada and Orgosolo Cultural and Wine Experience
- Meet the tour representative and visit the unique Museum of Mediterranean Masks in Mamoiada, home to the traditional folkloristic figures of the Mamuthones and the Issohadores, mysterious masked characters whose origins date back to pre-Christian pagan rituals.
- See a traditional Mamuthone craft shop, where local artists create mystic black masks for the Mamuthones characters, and meet the historic president of one of the famous local groups of Mamuthones.
- Enjoy Cannonau wine tasting at a small local vineyard with its own nuraghe, and have a delicious lunch on a vineyard terrace.
- Proceed to Orgosolo, the heart of wild Barbagia, famous for bandits and murals. Discover the history of its famous murals by visiting local artists' studios and getting to know the creators of these beautiful works.
- Meet Nicolò Giuseppe Rubanu, founder of the Rubanu Group of Tenor Singers and author of many books and poems. The tenors from Orgosolo became famous for their opera lyrics about contemporary political issues. They were also the first tenor group in Sardinia to mix traditional opera singing with jazz music while working with established jazz musicians such as Marcello Melis, Enrico Rava, Roswell Rudd, and Don Moye.
