Spot lions, rhinos, hippos, crocodiles, giraffes, wildebeests, zebras, buffalo, warthogs, hyenas, jackals, wild dogs, buffalo, leopard, many kinds of antelopes and elephants.
It is in the Mara that perhaps the most spectacular event of the natural world takes place. This is the annual migration of millions of wildebeest and zebra from the Serengeti (Tanzania) searching for water and pasture. Following on their heels are the predators of the savanna- lion, cheetah, wild dog, jackal, hyena and vultures.
-
Day 4: Full Day at Masai Mara
Full day game viewing coupled with exploring this spectacular Park. The Mara is the land of African legend: Lions are abundant throughout the park, as are the elephants, giraffes, and various gazelle species and zebra. Cheetah and leopard are also regularly seen and, less commonly, rhino. The annual wildebeest migration, one of nature's few remaining wildlife spectacles, occurs in the Mara from July to September, where the big animals and their predators are to be present in abundance during the time frame of this trip. Several species of Bee-eaters, flying rainbows that lead the list of Mara's birds, occur in reserve.
Optional: Visit a Masai Boma (homestead) is an option offered to tourists at an extra charge that reveals this outstanding culture and customs of the tribes. Not only wildlife but the Masai Mara is also home to many members of the colourful Masai tribe who may be seen around the borders of the park, namely Morans (warriors) loping across the plains, young boys herding goats, or elders grouped under a tree discussing matters of the day.
-
Day 5: Full Day at Masai Mara
Full day is spent at the Maasai Mara game reserve. Drive across the plains in search of the big cats like black-manned lions, cheetahs and leopards with picnic lunch served at the Mara River site. Vast herds of wildebeest and zebra wander across the Mara grasslands in huge numbers during the annual migrations that take place during the month of July to October when millions of wildebeest, zebra, and gazelle traverse the Mara plains landscape to feed on the rich new grass from the Serengeti.
Also, you will have a chance to see other plain game like the Topi and Eland.
-
