The itinerary

1
Day 01

Arrival in Nairobi

  • Pick up from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and transfer to Panari Resort for an overnight stay, including a meal plan and complimentary breakfast.

2
Day 02

Nairobi to Masai Mara via the Great Rift Valley

  • Pick up after breakfast and drive to Masai Mara, with a stop at the Great Rift Valley.

  • Continue through Longonot and Suswa to the western walls, with another stop at Narok for refuelling.

  • Lunch at Masai Mara.

  • After a short leisure break following lunch, head out for a safari drive in the Mara, which is popular for the Big Five - lions, elephants, leopards, buffalo, and rhinos.

Dinner at camp. The meal plan includes breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

3
Day 03

Morning and Afternoon Game Drives in Masai Mara

  • Go for morning and afternoon game drives in the park in search of the Big Five.

  • Look out for lions, rhinos, hippos, crocodiles, giraffes, wildebeests, zebras, buffalo, warthogs, hyenas, jackals, wild dogs, leopards, many kinds of antelopes, and elephants.

  • It is in the Mara that perhaps the most spectacular event of the natural world takes place: the annual migration of millions of wildebeest and zebra from the Serengeti in Tanzania in search of water and pasture. Following closely behind are the predators of the savanna - lion, cheetah, wild dog, jackal, hyena, and vultures.

4
Day 04

Full-Day Wildlife Viewing and Optional Masai Boma Visit

  • Spend the day game viewing while exploring this spectacular park. The Mara is the land of African legend: lions are abundant throughout the park, as are elephants, giraffes, various gazelle species, and zebra. Cheetah and leopard are also regularly seen and, less commonly, rhino. The annual wildebeest migration, one of nature's few remaining wildlife spectacles, takes place in the Mara from July to September, when the big animals and their predators are present in abundance during this period. Several species of bee-eaters, the flying rainbows of the Mara, also occur in the reserve.

Optional: A visit to a Masai Boma (homestead) is available at an extra charge and offers insight into the outstanding culture and customs of the tribes. Beyond its wildlife, the Masai Mara is also home to many members of the colourful Masai tribe, who may be seen around the park borders - Morans (warriors) striding across the plains, young boys herding goats, or elders gathered under a tree discussing the matters of the day.

5
Day 05

Full Day in Maasai Mara with Picnic Lunch

  • Spend the full day in the Maasai Mara Game Reserve. Drive across the plains in search of big cats such as black-maned lions, cheetahs, and leopards, with a picnic lunch served at the Mara River site. Vast herds of wildebeest and zebra wander across the Mara grasslands in huge numbers during the annual migration from July to October, when millions of wildebeest, zebra, and gazelle traverse the Mara plains to feed on the rich new grass from the Serengeti.

  • You will also have a chance to see other plains game such as topi and eland.

6
Day 06

Leisure and Afternoon Game Drive in Masai Mara

  • Set out for an early morning game drive in the Mara.

  • Return to the lodge for breakfast.

  • Spend the rest of the morning at leisure.

  • After lunch at the lodge, enjoy an afternoon game drive until dusk at 3 pm.

7
Day 07

Return from Masai Mara to Nairobi

  • Depart from Masai Mara after breakfast and travel across acres of rolling wheat and barley farms to Narok, the district headquarters of this part of Maasailand.

  • From here, cross the vast plains on the floor of the Rift Valley while keeping an eye out for herds of giraffe and gazelle before ascending the rift escarpment.

  • Arrive in Kenya's bustling capital by early evening.

  • Drop off at a city hotel or the airport according to the tourists' onward travel arrangements.
