Galilee Religious Highlights Tour

  • Visit the beautiful excavated Roman Theater in Caesarea.

  • Discover some of the most recent excavations, including the newly uncovered hippodrome, a stadium used for chariot races.

  • Explore an ancient aqueduct once used to convey the city's water almost 1000 years ago.

  • Drive to Yardenit, a place where John baptised Jesus.

  • Continue to Capernaum, home of Peter and the centre of Jesus' preaching.

  • Visit the stone benches of Capernaum's ancient synagogue, and discover how Jesus taught and healed a man possessed by an evil spirit and raised from the dead the daughter of this synagogue's leader.

  • Discover the ruins here, from homes with ordinary tools of daily life to intricately decorated stone carvings.

  • Visit Peter's house, where Jesus healed Peter's mother-in-law.

  • Travel to a large church built in the mid-fourth century, whose mosaic floor was created with Peter's house as its centrepiece.

  • Proceed to Tabkha, the Church of the Multiplication of the Loaves and the Fishes.

  • Drive to the Mount of Beatitudes and visit the Catholic chapel built in 1939 by the Franciscan Sisters with the support of the Italian ruler Mussolini.

  • See the symbols on the pavement in front of the church representing Justice, Prudence, Fortitude, Charity, Faith, and Temperance.

  • Move inside the church and see the cloak that still hangs from Pope Paul VI's visit in 1964.
