The itinerary

1
Day 01

Marrakech to Ait Benhaddou and Ouarzazate

  • Meet your tour guide, who will pick you up from your hotel or riad, and depart for Ait Benhaddou over the High Atlas Mountains, passing through the Tizi N'tichka Pass at 2,260 m altitude.
  • Visit the Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou and stop for lunch at a local restaurant.
  • Drive to Ouarzazate in the afternoon and stop near the Atlas Film Studios for a photo.
  • Continue to the city center for a panoramic view of the Kasbah of Taourirt.
  • Afterward, head to Kalaa M'gouna or Boumalne du Dades for the night.

Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 02

Dades Valley, Todra Gorges, and Merzouga Desert

  • Have breakfast and continue your journey towards the Dades Valley, crossing the impressive Todra Gorges. Stop for lunch.
  • Take the road to Merzouga, crossing the Palmeral de Jorf, said to produce some of the best dates, and Erfoud, a nice village where you can visit a marble workshop.
  • Enter the desert on the back of a camel in search of the camp where you will spend the night and enjoy one of Morocco's most authentic dinners.

Day 03

Sahara Sunrise, Khamlia Village, and Desert Discovery

  • Wake up early to enjoy the sunrise from the top of the dune in the Sahara Desert, then have breakfast.
  • Ride your camel back to the hotel to take a shower. Then, take a tour of the dunes in a 4x4 vehicle, allowing you to visit the black volcanic rocks of fossils.
  • Visit a nomad family living in a tent in Khamlia village and witness the entertainment of their spiritual Gnawa music.
  • Head to Lake Dayte Sarji, which forms in springtime and attracts pink flamingos and other wildlife. Have lunch in Merzouga or Hassi Labied.
  • See the canal irrigation system and take a walk in the oasis located at the foot of the dunes.
  • Continue to your hotel for a shower and some relaxation.

Day 04

Rissani Souks, Ziz Valley, and Arrival in Fes

  • Travel to Rissani and explore the local market (souks).
  • Depart for Errachidia via Erfoud, Aoufous, and the Ziz Valley, then stop for a panoramic view of the Oasis of Aoufous in the Tafilalte region.
  • Continue to Midelt across the Tizi N'talghamt Pass and stop for lunch.
  • Visit Fes, the medieval city, via the Cedar Forest near Azrou and the Middle Atlas Mountains, with the possibility of seeing Barbary apes. You may also stop in Ifrane, the Switzerland of Morocco, before arriving in Fes.
  • Drop-off at your preferred place in Fes.
