Full-Day Ulaanbaatar Cultural and Historical Tour

  • At 9:00 AM, the tour begins at Gandan Monastery, the main and largest monastery in Ulaanbaatar, formally known as Gandantegchinlen Monastery. This Mongolian Buddhist monastery has been restored and revitalised since 1990, and more than 150 monks now live here. It also houses an approximately 25-metre-tall statue of Megjid-Janraiseg, a sage who represents compassion and leads people on the path to truth.

  • At 10:00 AM, the tour continues to the National Museum of Mongolia, established in 1924. The museum contains a collection of approximately 56,000 historical, archaeological, and ethnographical artefacts from prehistory to the contemporary era. After being renamed in 2008, it now houses 10 halls with a collection of over 50,000 exhibits.

  • At 12:00 PM, the group visits Sükhbaatar Square, the central square of Ulaanbaatar. It features a large colonnade monument to Genghis Khan, Ögedei Khan, and Kublai Khan on the north side in front of the Government Palace, as well as an equestrian statue of Damdin Sükhbaatar at the centre of the square.

  • At 1:00 PM, lunch is enjoyed at a best-rated local spot, where you will have the opportunity to try an authentic Mongolian meal.

  • At 3:00 PM, the tour visits the Ger District, home to hundreds of thousands of people and representing the original form of the rapidly urbanising city of Ulaanbaatar. More than 60% of the city's population live in this neighbourhood, which is formed by narrow alleyways created by joining together household fences.

  • At 4:30 PM, the tour visits Zaisan Memorial on Zaisan Hill, which offers panoramic views of Ulaanbaatar and Buddha Park. Visitors can climb more than 612 steps to reach the circular platform at the top, which features a statue of a Soviet soldier. The memorial commemorates the Soviet soldiers who died during the Battle of Khalkhin Gol.

  • At 6:00 PM, you will be dropped off at your hotel, marking the end of the tour.
