Day 01

From Cancún to Tulum, Cobá, and Chichén Itzá

  • The journey begins with a departure from Cancún on a shared tour heading south towards the ancient coastal site of Tulum, a dramatic Mayan city built on cliffs overlooking the Caribbean Sea.
  • Explore the ruins of Tulum while learning about its strategic role in the ancient Mayan trade routes connecting Central America and the wider region.
  • Continue inland to Cobá, once one of the largest and most influential Mayan cities in the Yucatán Peninsula, connected by an extensive network of ancient sacbeob roads.
  • After exploring Cobá, proceed towards Chichén Itzá, where travellers check in for overnight accommodation.
  • In the evening, there is an optional Sound and Light Show that brings the history and legends of the site to life in an immersive setting.
  • Comfortable walking shoes, sun protection, and hydration are recommended throughout the day.

Chichén Itzá and Onward to Uxmal

  • After breakfast, begin a guided visit to Chichén Itzá, one of the New Seven Wonders of the World and a masterpiece of ancient Mayan civilisation.
  • Explore its most iconic structures, including the Pyramid of Kukulcán, the Great Ball Court, the Observatory, and the Sacred Cenote, gaining insight into the advanced astronomical and cultural knowledge of the Maya.
  • Continue the journey west towards the Puuc region to reach Uxmal, known for its refined architecture and historical importance.
  • Upon arrival, check in and enjoy leisure time to relax and absorb the surroundings of this ancient ceremonial city.
  • In the evening, you may optionally attend the Sound and Light Show at Uxmal, which narrates the legends and history of the site in an immersive setting.

Uxmal and Kabah to Mérida

  • After breakfast, begin a guided visit to Uxmal, one of the most beautifully preserved Mayan cities in the Puuc region.
  • Explore iconic structures such as the Pyramid of the Magician and the Governor's Palace, known for their symmetry, precision, and intricate stone carvings dedicated to Itzamná.
  • Continue the journey to Kabah, an important archaeological site recognised for its ornate façades and repeated depictions of Chaac, the Mayan rain god.
  • Walk through this ceremonial complex and understand the cultural significance of agriculture and rainfall in ancient Mayan society.
  • After the exploration, return to Mérida for an overnight stay, completing a day rich in history and architecture.

Mérida, Izamal, and Return to Cancún

  • After breakfast at the hotel, the day begins with an exploration of Mérida, famously known as the "White City" and founded in 1542 on the ancient Mayan site of T'ho.
  • Travellers discover its elegant colonial architecture, vibrant streets, and rich local culture that reflects both Spanish and Mayan heritage.

  • The journey continues towards Izamal, a picturesque yellow-painted colonial town known for its peaceful atmosphere and historical significance.

  • Visitors explore the historic convent in Izamal, which features one of the largest atriums in the world after St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican.

  • After completing the visit, travellers return by shared transport to Cancún, where the tour services conclude.
