  • The Jordan Pass is highly recommended - it includes your entry visa and access to many major tourist sites (like Petra, Jerash, and Wadi Rum), and saves you money.
  • Check the validity of your passport; it must be valid for at least 6 months.
  • The currency is the Jordanian Dinar (JOD) - a strong currency (1 JOD ≈ 1.41 USD).
  • Cash is widely used, though credit cards are accepted in cities and hotels.
  • Prices in Amman and tourist areas are slightly higher compared to neighboring countries.
  • Jordanians are known for their warmth and hospitality.
  • Dress modestly, especially in public or rural areas.
  • Common greeting: "As-salamu alaykum" ("Peace be upon you") - reply with "Wa alaykum as-salam."
  • It's polite to accept a cup of coffee or tea when offered - refusing may seem impolite.
  • Jordan is one of the safest and most stable countries in the Middle East.
  • Stick to bottled water for drinking.
  • No special vaccinations are usually required.

Jordanian food is delicious and hearty! Some must-try dishes:

  • Mansaf - the national dish (lamb cooked in yogurt sauce with rice).
  • Falafel & Hummus - everyday favorites.
  • Maqluba - rice, vegetables, and meat flipped upside down when served.
  • Kunafa - sweet cheese pastry with syrup, popular in Amman.
  • Bedouin tea or Arabic coffee - strong and flavorful, always offered with hospitality.
