The tour of Assisi, the city of Saint Francis, is much more than just a religious tour. It will delve into the city's rich history, including the religious figures who have marked the history of the city but also explore the alleyways to uncover hidden details and gems that may even be unknown to the locals.
- On this tour, the participants will be taken on a journey through the historic centre of Assisi, starting from the area of the amphitheatre, through the centres of power, such as the Piazza del Comune, its public buildings and its underground, up to the main attraction of the city, the Basilica of San Francesco (outside only).
- The tour will be accompanied by tales, anecdotes, and real historical facts that will showcase how the ancient Romans, the medieval saints, and the modern pilgrims have contributed to making the city unique and a UNESCO heritage site since 2000.
- This program offers a delightful trip back in time from the Umbrian origins of Assisi to the present day and invites you to come and discover the beauty of the city in person.
Note- An inside visit to the Basilica of San Francesco is not included in the tour. However, the travellers may pay a self-guided visit to the Basilica at the end of the tour, if interested.
