Day 01

Discover the Historic Heart of Cividale del Friuli

This tour will take you through the history, culture, and traditions of Cividale del Friuli, Italia Langobardorum, a UNESCO site since 2011. We will start our walk from the Old Railway Station, built during the 19th century and used by Italian soldiers in World War I to reach the battlefields.
Stroll along a city park and explore Borgo San Pietro, one of the four boroughs that belong to the medieval city center.
On the next leg of our tour, we will visit the old Forum Iulii, the marketplace of Julius. This was the name given by the Romans to Cividale, which was founded by Julius Caesar in the 1st century BC. It was a significant location along the riverside and quickly became an important commercial site.
Our next stop will be the Devil's Bridge.
Finally, we will pass by the Cathedral and, while strolling along the shopping street of Corso Mazzini, we will reach Piazza Paolo Diacono, a square with many nice cafes, bars, and more.
