Start in Casablanca and travel through Morocco's imperial cities, including Rabat, Meknes, and the old Medina of Fes, before continuing to the desert of Merzouga for a camel ride among the dunes of Erg Chebbi. The journey then leads through the southeast's oases, kasbahs, gorges, and canyons to Ouarzazate and its cinema studios, before reaching Marrakech and landmarks such as the Koutoubia Mosque. From there, continue to the Portuguese-influenced coastal cities of Essaouira and El Jadida before returning to Casablanca.

Start in Casablanca and travel through Morocco's imperial cities, including Rabat, Meknes, and the old Medina of Fes, before continuing to the desert of Merzouga for a camel ride among the dunes of Erg Chebbi.

The itinerary

1
Day 01

Casablanca

  • Your driver-guide will meet you at your arrival time and transfer you to your hotel, about 40 minutes drive to the modern city, depending on the arrival time, it is possible to make your first visit, and the biggest attraction in Casablanca is the Hassan II Mosque, which you will visit the next day.

Day 02

Casablanca - Rabat - Meknes

  • After breakfast, you will visit the highlights of the metropolis of Morocco and even the beach, the Hassan II Mosque, the Habbous and Mohamed 5 Square, then continue to the capital of Morocco; Rabat, where you can visit after lunch the following sites: the Royal Palace (outside) and the famous Hassan Tower, the landmark of the city, the mausoleum of Mohammed V and the tomb of Sultans Mérinides.
  • Then, continue your journey towards the city of Meknes (about 160 km, the highway), an important agricultural region of Morocco, which is known for its extended wall of 40 km with magnificent doors.

Day 03

Meknes - Volubilis - Fes

  • Today, you will explore one of the best imperial cities of Morocco!
  • Through the Jewish Quarter takes you to the old past time and remains of a huge attic of the 17th century and the mausoleum of Moulay Ismail. 
  • On a walk to the old medina, we will go through the old square “El Hedim Square” and the famous gate of Morocco the Bab Mansour. 
  • After the guided city tour of Meknes, we will continue to the old Roman city Volubilis. Here, we will go through the two central streets integrated into each Roman castoreum, Cardo and Decumanus, the cardo is the north-south boulevard and the Decumanus is east-west. The intersection of the two is the heart of every Roman city. You will find the ruins of the old forum. 
  • Jump forward in time to the venerated citadel of Moulay Idriss. This citadel is considered both the cradle of Sufism in Moroccan society, as well as the first Islamic capital for the Arab dynasty. The city was created primarily for the indigenous population who migrated with Moulay Idriss from the Middle East. 
  • After the visit to two monuments, we will continue to Fes. By the evening you will already see the 3 big imperial cities. Arrive at Fes by the afternoon and check in to your accommodation.

Day 04

Fes - Guided Sightseeing Tour of the City

  • Fes stimulates the senses with its haunting yet beautiful senses, visual splendour, and evocative smells. The oldest imperial capital and a complete medieval city of the Islamic world, Fes recalls a city suspended in time, undisturbed by the ever-changing exteriors of the world of its walls. Fes owes nothing to the Western world. The time spent in Fez will reveal a lot about the sophistication of Moroccan craftsmanship, offering a unique learning experience to those who cross its path. Yours will be spent visiting the old Medina. Our specialized guide will take you to discover the historical sites of the city of Fes, from King's Palace and its Meshwar with ramparts and majestic gates as well as, the medersas and tanners.
  • Then, you will explore the Jewish Quarter, a 15-century citadel with all its Moorish labyrinth architecture and medieval glory. Visits to synagogues and mausoleums of holy Sephardi rabbis will highlight this part of the city. 
  • You will return to your hotel for dinner.

Day 05

Fes - Ifrane - Azrou - Midelt

  • Today, you will leave Fes to join the "Switzerland" of Morocco: Ifrane (ski region) and go through Berber cedar forests to meet Barbary wild monkeys in Azrou, then arrive at Midelt stop for lunch and check in to your hotel or Kasbah where you will spend the night. 
  • (Optional) In the afternoon, you can enjoy a walk in the fields, mountains, or city.

Day 06

Midelt - Erfoud - Rissani - Merzouga

  • After breakfast, we depart to Merzouga through "Ziz gorges", a giant canyon with oasis and date palms.
  • During the day, we will stop for many photos of the changing landscapes while heading to the desert Sahara. We will stop for lunch in a local restaurant. 
  • Then continue through the most extended palm grove in Morocco, over 180KM. 
  • Once in Rissani, we will make a short visit to the ancient capital of Tafilalt: Sijilmassa (Rissani). 
  • After Rissani, continue to Merzouga, the desert oasis. These are the edges of the most giant dunes, after the dunes of Chegaga, and integrated with lush palm groves, surrounded by the reddish dunes of gold Erg Chebbi. 
  • At the arrival, you will be welcomed by a Moroccan mint tea. Then you start a new adventure riding camel to reach the desert camp in nowhere. 
  • Enjoy the peace and space of the fantastic dunes and the romantic sunset on one of the huge dune peaks; dinner and overnight in a typical desert environment. (Night in a nomad tent)

Day 07

Merzouga - Erfod - Toudra Gorges

  • If you wish to witness the magical sunrise, get up early today. 
  • After breakfast and under the mild morning sun, you will enjoy a stroll through the dunes.
  • Then return to the Kasbah hotel, where you can prepare for the trip. 
  • Depart by crossing the oasis of Erfoud, where you will visit a local marble factory. 
  • Then, you will find an incredible landscape through the big villages and the Berber Oasis in Tinghir, where the Todra Valley begins. 
  • Spent the night with a host.

Day 08

Tinghir - Boumaln Dades - Skoura - Ouarzazate - Ait Ben Haddou

  • You will travel west to the valley and the Todra Gorge, which lies to the right between the Atlas Mountains and the Sahara Desert. 
  • Only 15 kilometres from Tinghir in the Todra Valley, you will find the highest and narrowest gorges in the region. 
  • Then, you will travel through the Dades Valley, where the springs and thousands of Persian roses bloom in the hedges, filling the air with their heavenly scent at Kalaa M'gouna. 
  • Continue to Skoura, the 1000 Kasbah road scattered along the road, majestic sandcastles with a visually appealing, timeless beauty. 
  • Arriving in Ouarzazate, the Moroccan Hollywood, visit the Kasbah of Taourirt and the movie studios. 
  • After lunch, we will continue through Morocco's highest pass, the Tizi-n-Tichka Pass, at an altitude of 2260 feet.
  • Arrive in Marrakech, a city of pleasure for visitors and locals, where southern tribes and Berber villagers bring their products to the market and find a variety of entertainment. 
  • For tourists, the city is a feast for the imagination, full of incomparable beauty, located in front of the imposing mountains that offer an exciting backdrop. 
  • After a visit to the lively Jemaa El Fna square, dinner and overnight in a riad.

Day 09

Marrakech Guided City Tour

  • After breakfast in your accommodation, we will start an explorative guided city tour to explore and discover the city of Marrakech, the old capital of many empires and dynasties. 
  • We will start from the Koutoubia mosque to discover the fantastic architecture of the mosque. Then we will continue not far to the Saadian tombs where the founders of the Saady dynasty meet, then continue to Bahia Palace, the residence of the former vizier.
  • Our journey continues to visit the Berber markets (souks) to explore the artisan's workshops and finish in the famous Jamaa el Fna square.
  • In the morning, a grand souk and a magical spectacle in the night.

Day 10

Marrakech - Essaouira

  • After breakfast, we will drive to discover one of the oldest harbours in Morocco, dating to 8BC, when the Phoenicians discovered it. Essaouira (Mogador), a picturesque city with a rich history and fascinating antiquity, Essaouira was occupied by the Phoenicians and Carthaginians, providing essential violet dyes to the Romans, absorbing the sophisticated Jewish arts goldsmith, and centuries past as a Portuguese enclave. 
  • Despite the apparent influence of these civilizations, Essaouira has managed to remain a small town, authentic Berber.
  • Living with the breath of fresh air provided by the Atlantic, Essaouira is a jewel nestled in the rugged coastline, with a vast expanse of empty sand trailing back along the peninsula to the south. 
  • You will conclude your day with a dinner in your riad.

Day 11

Essaouria - Casablanca

  • Today, we will leave Essaouira after two days there and drive towards Casablanca through the coastal road.
  • Stop at El Oualidia for a seafood lunch. 
  • Then, we will continue ahead to El Jadida, where you will be able to visit the citadel, proof of the Portuguese occupation of the 11th century. 
  • Finally, you will arrive in Casablanca, having completed a journey that has led you through immeasurable antiquity. 
  • You will end your day with a farewell dinner and spend the night at the hotel.

Day 12

Casablanca - Airport

  • In the morning, your driver will meet you at your hotel to help you with your luggage and transport you to the airport Mohamed V. Your driver will help you with your check out.
