Day 01

Madaba, Mount Nebo, Baptism Site, Dead Sea and Petra

  • Meet your tour guide at the airport, hotel, or any other desired location and visit Madaba. The city of mosaics has more biblical sites than you can imagine. Here is a taste of what is in and around Madaba.
    • St. George Church: In the heart of Madaba, this church houses a map of the old Holy Land documenting all cities. It is a 2nd-century beauty that speaks history, and the icons on the walls inspire the Orthodox spirit of the church. It is a must-see.
    • The Martyrs Church: Tucked behind St. George's Church, this amazing site holds a great deal of history.
    • The Catholic Church: Recognized by the Vatican in 1976, it became a visited site for both tourists and pilgrims. The church includes a museum and bell tower, along with tunnels, mosaics, and a Moabite well dating back 3,000 years.
    • Kherbet Almukhayyat: Located between Madaba and Mount Nebo, this is one of the hidden jewels of Jordan - a 6th-century church with one of the most beautiful storytelling mosaics you will ever see.
    • Apostles Church: This 6th-century structure features mosaic floors and a unique design. As significant as it is, it also marks the beginning of the King's Way as it exists today.
  • Head to Mount Nibo. This cliff rises 710 meters above sea level and overlooks Jericho and Jerusalem on a clear day. The site includes a church dating back to the 4th century, built in memory of Prophet Moses, and is the place mentioned in the Bible where Moses was granted a view of the promised land. It also has a museum and some outstanding mosaic work.
  • Visit the Baptism Site and enjoy touring the area of the Jordan River. Located 7 km north of the Dead Sea, Bethany beyond the Jordan is the actual baptism site of Jesus Christ. It was here that Jesus met his cousin John to be baptized. The site includes a shrine with a mosaic floor and has been visited by several popes, most recently Pope Francis.
  • Continue to the lowest point on earth, the Dead Sea. The Dead Sea is a whole other story on its own; being so close to floating on top of the water rather than being in it is something that feels strange to our nature. Grab your favourite magazine, read it comfortably while you float, and do not forget your mud bath. Slip into your younger skin once more.
  • Go to the grand canyon of Jordan, Wadi Al Mujib.
  • Proceed to Petra for an overnight stay.

Day 02

Explore Petra and Little Petra

  • Start early from the hotel in Petra and enjoy a minimum 8-hour tour of the site. Petra is the capital of Edom. Its rosy red charm, carved into the sandstone mountains of Wadi Musa, is evidence of the connection between ancient cultures. The city affects you like a child in a candy shop. The marvellous colours and atmosphere of the Siq feel as if time has stood still; you do not simply walk down the path, it feels more like gliding. As the Siq opens onto the Treasury, the sight hits you like an Indiana Jones movie scene - a secret hidden for thousands of years, and a view like no other. Climbing the steps to the Monastery is long and tiring, but once you arrive, you can truly say you are on top of the world. A cup of tea at the viewpoint there, with the fresh breeze around sunset, will be priceless.
  • Go to Little Petra to complete the picture of the culture that built this amazing city. Discover a 4,000-year-old winery and drawings from before the clock started to tick. It is a must-see wonder of the world.
  • Return to Amman in the evening.
