A relaxed and thoughtful photography walk

Reviewed April 8, 2026

I joined a photography walk in Cape Town with Greg and ended up doing both a morning and an evening walk. It was just the two of us, which made the experience even more enjoyable. It felt relaxed and personal, and we were able to move at a comfortable pace without feeling rushed. Greg was knowledgeable and approachable, and he shared helpful tips along the way without making it feel technical or overwhelming. What I appreciated most was how he encouraged me to slow down and really observe my surroundings. It changed how I approached taking photos and how I experienced the city. He also shared a selection of photos after the walk, which was a thoughtful touch and something I’ll keep. Overall, it was a very enjoyable experience and a great way to see Cape Town from a different perspective.

Perfect for Photography and Exploring Local Highlights in Cape Town

Reviewed October 8, 2025

Greg took me around Cape Town for a whole day trip from Signal Hill, colourful Bo-Kaap to Boulders Beach with cute penguins... It was a very enjoyable day with chances to take beautiful photographs from the places he had shown me, at the same time getting to know Cape Town. Greg is friendly, pleasant, knowledgable and very accommodating. It is a excellent combination of able to see Cape Town with photography opportunities. I would highly recommending it for a marvellous experience. Tq Greg.

Wonderful Cape Town Photo Tour with Greg Hillyard

Reviewed October 1, 2025

On July 14, 2025, a friend and I took a 9-hour photo tour of Cape Town with Greg Hillyard. We started early and photographed sunrise from Signal Hill. Then, we visited Kirstenbosch Gardens where we photographed lots of protea flowers, cycads, and birds such as the elusive Southern double-collared sunbird, and the Cape sugarbird. We stopped for a light breakfast at Olympia Cafe in Kalk Bay. We photographed a colony of African Penguins at Boulders. Then, to experience South African cuisine, we had a lunch that included springbok at the Foodbarn at the Noordhoek farm village. Finally, we returned back to Cape Town via a Chapmans Peak drive along the coast. Greg also provided tips about manual settings on my Canon camera. The tour was a delight for both the eyes and palate. We highly recommend a photo tour with Greg Hillyard (you also get a foodie tour).

Outstanding photo tour in and around Cape Town

Reviewed September 14, 2025

I was in Cape Town on a solo trip, and Greg helped make my time there extra special. He is a very professional and knowledgeable photo guide and took me to a lot of cool places in the area. You can see he is truly passionate about what he does and likes to see things differently. I had a few location wishes, and Greg was so flexible and attentive, always adapting the plan to my requests and to the weather so we could make the most of every photography opportunity. I had always been a bit apprehensive of shooting full manual, and, following his teaching and encouragements, I finally made the jump and never looked back. I learned a lot, so thank you Greg! If you enjoy photography (or not), I cannot recommend him enough as a guide, and I'd absolutely hire him again if I'm back in Cape Town.

Great tour

Reviewed January 9, 2025

It was a great experience: Greg truly loves Cape Town, and showed a lot of interesting new places. He was tending to all our needs and crafted a great tour for us with an understanding of our limited energy and the small child. We managed to see a lot!
