Amazing four days in Azerbaijan with Rauf

Reviewed May 28, 2019

Saw Sheki, waterfalls, Kinalug area, Qoba, Red Village (mountain Jews), Baku and places in between (mud volcanos and petroglyphs).   He can help with hostel, guest house or hotel stays.  Because of his of his contacts, we had tea in a remote mountain village, visited a home where the wife was weaving carpets in the home, and met a local taxi driver who was able to negotiate the crowded streets of Baku and surrounding area.

His English was very good and he didn't mind help in pronunciation and grammar.  I was surprised (and pleased) that shortly after booking he found me on Facebook and What'sApp.  I was apprehensive about spending 4 days with someone I only met online (almost like a dating service :-)) but but it was very  comfortable with him. It was like being with a friend just showing me around his incredible country.  Downside? I'd get shoes that were easier to get on and off as shoes were not worn inside.  Also I would have tried to be in better shape.  I live near sea level in Florida, USA, and the altitude in the mountains was an issue at times.

He treated me as a friend and guest.

Two days of a very individual tour

Reviewed April 28, 2018

Very spontaneously we decided to go on a guided tour for two days outside Baku.

Via tourQH we came in touch with Rauf. This made the experience very special and personally.

Starting with the rock art in Gobustan, where Rauf gave us the impression to discover this site with us. Very creativly he organized our spontaneous idea to go to the mud volcanos. He organized a driver with a 4w-Car and the ride was as exciting as the mud vulcanos. After that we drove to Quba, his hometown. Treating us like friends, who came by for a weekend, he showed us to hidden places like a nice lake, where we did a nice walk. And the day finished with a nightwalk to the Jewish village on the other side of the river.

He organized everything perfectly, starting with picking us up right in time from our hotel in Baku, booking the hotel in Quba and the transportation back to the airport.

The highlight was definitely the tour into the mountains to Khinalyg including a hike up to the waterspring, a tea break at a friend’s place and a visit to the local museum.  The drive to the village in the mountains was a highlight by itself.

Rauf is a nice guy, has a lot of stories to tell and makes a tour very individual, far away from a standard tour with thousand of facts, that no one needs to remember.

A Great Experience

Reviewed February 26, 2018

I did the Afurdja Waterfall tour with Rauf. Rauf arranged the hotel for me and both picked me up and dropped me back at the bus stop for no extra cost. Rauf was very attentive and conscientious. He helped to arrange a vegetarian dinner in the hotel and was always available if I needed anything.

I woud really recommend this tour guide.

Altough quba is a nice city it was not that easy to get

some further touristical information. By searching the internet

For information about a tour to the waterfalls we contacted

Trip to the valley and the waterfalls. Rauf knows a lot
