Review by Sharon Litsky in praise of Redouan Adib

Reviewed April 14, 2018

My husband and I traveled for several weeks through Morocco in 2017. I give the highest rating to our travel team because our trip would not have been as wonderful as it was if it were not for our travel team of Driver Mohamed Elboukaoui and Tour Guide Redouan Adib. We cannot commend them high enough for making our trip so memorable.

Adib is so knowledgeable of the history of Morocco and of each area and city we visited. He gave us the background we needed to appreciate what we were seeing as well as relating to the current state of affairs. He was very helpful in locating convenient ATM machines in safe areas for us and navigating us through their usage. He gave us a very good understanding of Moroccan etiquette (such as who to tip and how much to tip, when to take photos or not take photos), the culture and traditions, and a good understanding of Islam, which seemed to share many traditions and have similarities to Judaism. He was sensitive to our wish to see anything related to the Jews of Morocco with our visits to the mellahs of Fes and Marrakech as well as to synagogues, museums, and cemeteries wherever possible. He escorted us to every restaurant to make sure we were seated at a table we liked, that we understood the menu and helped us navigate the menu or put in a special order to the kitchen if there was something we wanted to eat that wasn’t on the menu. He made sure that when I needed to make a stop on the road to use the toilet, that it was clean and suitable. He even had coins to give me to give the woman in charge of the toilet when I didn’t have a coin handy. He took care of coordinatizing all our lunches and dinners, both where Heritage had already made reservations but also cancelling some of those pre-arranged reservations when we wanted to eat elsewhere or at different time, he took care of cancelling and making new reservations.

Adib spoke excellent English. His coordination with our driver was seamless, with our van waiting for us no matter where we exited a medina and after each meal. They also made transfers to 4x4’s seamless and efficient. He always kept our safety in mind (such as steering us clear of any areas that might not be as safe for us to explore by ourselves) and kept our comfort in mind (such as reorganizing our day’s itinerary a bit depending on the weather and temperature.) We felt as if we had built-in body guards. They built in a lot of flexibility into each day as far as stopping for bathroom breaks or just to walk a bit during long drives or buy a snack or take photos of a panoramic scene. Adding to our sense of safety and security was the fact that they gave us a cell phone so that we could automatically call either of them if we needed to.

I have already recommended Adib to several friends who are planning trips to Morocco and if we return for another visit, we would want no other tour guide than Adib. He is a true professional, who knows his country's history, culture and religion and his sharing of it made all the difference in our enjoyment of Morocco.

Seeing Morocco like a Local

Reviewed April 1, 2018

My husband and I spent 10 days with Redouan.  During our days traveling through Morocco, we saw many of the tourists areas but more important we saw the less seen and often more interesting.  Redouan was able to answer all our questions and gave  us running commentary about all the places we visited.  We also had many cultural questions as well as about Islam.  We felt that we left Morocco with a much deeper knowledge and appreciation of the people and the country.  We have talked about going back and would definitely use Redouan's guide services if we do.
