This was our second trip to Vietnam but our first time to Da Nang. Picking a good guide based on reviews and brief bios is luck at best and often results in a disappointing experience. Fortunately, our experience with Nguyen exceeded expectations and resulted in an enjoyable experience for me and my traveling partner. Not only was he very well-versed in local history but able to describe things in a way we could relate to. Communication was very good, which is not always the case in Asia, and pride in showing us Hoi An, the area he was raised, made for an enjoyable and interesting full-day tour. All in all we had a very satisfying two and a half days with Nguyen and highly recommend him.

Nguyen was an excellent host to Hoi An - showing us the highlights of this wonderful city with personal experience, knowledge and insights. He is fun, smart and just a great person.  He was reliable and so proud of his hometown. One of the things I really liked about him was that he was the right amount of informative - spoke enough to give us insight and background but also quiet enough to let us enjoy and appreciate it all.  Some guides feel like they need to talk 24/7 and Nguyen understands the need to be quiet at times.  He also goes above and beyond - taking special steps to ensure a perfect experience from the times we visited sites to great contacts.  I'd highly recommend hiring Nguyen if you are heading to Hoi An!
