Birding in Vietnam can be a challenge, and an expert local guide is indispensable. Tien has an unrivaled knowledge of the birds and birding sites throughout the country, and works tirelessly for his clients. Tien guided me on birding trips to two national parks: Cuc Phuong in the north and Cat Tien in the south. Thanks to him, I saw such fantastic birds as Wreathed Hornbill, Germain's Peacock-Pheasant, Collared Falconet, Dusky Broadbill, and Bar-bellied Pitta. He has an amazing knowledge of bird calls, which is tremendously valuable in forest birding. He speaks excellent English, and is great with logistics. He's also an excellent photographer, and was able to point out some fine points of identification using digital photos he took on the spot. I recommend him without reservation!

In a 9-day birding trip Tien took us to some fabulous spots to find many rare and endemic birds. He is a brilliant bird guide with a great sense of humor and showed careful attention to our needs and details in planning the trip. His communication skills were excellent and it was helpful to have a guide who had many local connections. We are currently planning another trip with him to enjoy more of the birds and beauty of Vietnam!
