Absolutely fantastic guide, very knowledgable, kind, accompanied me for the train, hosted me and also arranged all internal transport around Mauritania. I could genuinely not recommend Mohamed enough. Thank you once again!

Mauritania is full of surprises and amazing adventures. See the Sahara up close and experience what it really means to be off the beaten path. Mohamed was a fantastic tour guide and leader. Every detail was perfect. Highly recommend him and the tour.

If you’re looking for an exciting adventure in the depths of the Sahara desert, this is the tour for you! My friend and I did the 4 day option including the iron ore train ride, swimming in an oasis, tours of ancient cave inscriptions and a village plus riding off-road around sand dunes. Mohammad and his friend set up netted tents for us to sleep outside and enjoy the incredible view of the shining stars. They cooked us breakfast lunch and dinner every day for 4 days. Mohammad told us stories about Mauritanian culture and asked us about our backgrounds and future trips. He stopped along the ride at some local tradesmen areas to let us shop for souvenirs. He took us to 2 oasis spots, one small and one large. We swam in both! He let us stop along the way and take pictures whenever we wanted! The views were incredible. The train ride was 11h 30m and it was so unlike any experience we had done before. So adventurous and exciting! With Mohammad with us, we felt safe the whole time! Our train got delayed, so when we were unable to catch the bus back to the airport, Mohammad negotiated with a local taxi and rode the 5 hour ride back with us! We can’t recommend him and this tour enough. We really hope to come back again some day! The only advice I’d say is to bring Dramamine or other car sickness medicine if you have history of needing it. The ride does get bumpy!
