Infectious Enthusiasm!

Reviewed May 19, 2016

We loved our hikes with Andreas. His genuine enthusiasm is infectious and makes one feel inspired to learn more about fynbos, birds, archaeology and local history. He is incredibly knowledgeable but also makes the subjects interesting by adding lots of stories, anecdotes and little known facts. Fynbos is not just fynbos for him ... he fleshes out the experience by discussing its practical and medicinal uses (thereby making it all the more memorable). The same applies to the topography of the area where he can add myth, lore and legend as well as fantastic insights into the fascinating history of the Cape and surrounds. I would highly recommend taking a hike with Andreas!

Outstanding hiking

Andreas is so much more than just a guide! His profound knowledge of the fauna, flora, geology and climatology of the areas he guides in captivates. Hiking with Andreas connecting me with a very real and gently powerful presence, our incredible Fynbos heritage. His unpretentious and intelligent way of communication made us all feel like long-time friends. Our whole group was quite taken by the experience and we have been back for more hiking.  Every time is simply a starburst experience.

Reviewed March 14, 2016

Andreas is an excellent guide. He took about 10 guests on a hike high up into the mountains above Clarence drive. He is an enthusiastic, positive, knowledgable, entertaining and engaging leader. He has excellent knowledge of fauna and flora and the geography of the area plus brings in very interesting info. A very relaxing experience which was a wonderful way to destress!

Can't wait to do another hike with Andreas!

Reviewed March 6, 2016

Andreas recently led a 'fynbos walk' for the Helderberg chapter of Mensa South Africa in the Steenbras/Kogelberg Nature Reserve - apart from his extensive knowledge of the fynbos, he also shared an unexpected amount of information about the ecology, geology and fauna of the area, which was absolutely fascinating! He has an easy, engaging style of presentation, and left the group all eagerly anticipating another hike with him.

An enlightening experience

As frequent visitors to this wonderful country we felt it was time to do something new. We had never participated on a hiking trip before and we were overwhelmed by both the scenery and fauna. Andreas had a wealth of knowledge regarding the natural environment and history,he made the miles disappear. An enthusiastic individual who is passionate about his countryside and conservation. We would highly recommend him.
