I first booked my Bangladesh tickets without knowing where I was actually going. I'm currently based in Indonesia so I've already been traveling a lot around Asia but I can guarantee you that Bangladesh has been my best life experience so far. If you are thinking about going, don't think it twice. You'll have the most authentic and amazing experience ever.

Some days before leaving to Bangladesh I started doing some research, and I came to the conclusion that if you're traveling alone and not for too many days the best option to really take advantage of your time is getting a guide. In my case, Papon.

Bangladesh is not a country with a lot of tourist infrastructure, getting things is hard and takes time, ironically is also slightly expensive, as a foreigner you don't have a lot of options so they will charge you as much as they can! But don’t worry; Papon will be there next to you so they don’t rip you off.

I spent in Bangladesh around 12 days in the last week of may (which is bad season for Sunderbans but Papon was the only guide who wanted to take me, soooo worth it!), I went to Dahka, Sunderbarns, Chittagong (ship breaking yard), Sirmangol, and Sylhet.

Papon is the most respectful and nice guy ever! He is always happy, never tired, and he will take you everywhere you want with no problem. He is always singing and talking about how in love he is of his beautiful wife!. I mean it, he has the best vibes ever.

If they are trying to overcharge you you’ll see how his face changes in two seconds! It’s soooo funny, he gets super upset; it happened to me so many times, I was always laughing.

I did the rocket paddle twice and took a couple of trains, I still can’t decide what my favorite part was but waking up in the train and seeing all of that beautiful views is priceless, really I was so tired but it was so beautiful that I couldn’t close my eyes.

Papon will always try to make you feel confortable, when we arrived to Sunderbans the area where my hotel was didn’t have electricity, we were so tired, it was so late! But he wanted me to have air conditioner (which I didn’t care at all) but he insisted. I mean he could have just leaved me in there but he didn’t. Thanks for that Papon!

I really really enjoyed Sirmangal, if you go there tell him to take you to the market! So amazing!! I also did some shopping in there (they sell a lot of nice handcraft stuff, beautiful, and super worth it). The tea plantations are also the next thing of amazing.

The food!! My favorite in all Asia, we went to really authentic places, eating was almost my favorite part of the day :9. He was also buying me fruits all the time! So nicee!! I was actually really scared of getting sick but I didn’t, everything is really good and fresh. There are also a big variety of dishes so you can always choose not to eat the same thing.

And of course, one of the best part for me was being able to talk to people, when I travel its really hard to communicate with locals but with Papon that language barrier disappears, they really touched my heart, I made so many Bengali friends I’ll never forget.

You won’t regret it! I promise. Papon, thank you so much for everything I truly wish you the best to you and your lovely family. I hope we can meet again.
