It was our first time visiting India and since we had no idea what to expect in terms of local culture (the eastern Himalayan culture) and so on, we hired Anthony, a native from Darjeeling,  for 11 full days. We ended up loving every minute of our Himalayan Trip, he speaks so many local languages and is a kind, caring, honest, down-to-earth person. When planning the trip, I asked Anthony if he could add an overnight at a Darjeeling Tea Garden, so glad he organised one, my German husband, a tea lover, fell in love with the Tea Estate. We visited Darjeeling, Tiger Hill, a Tea Estate, Pelling, Gangtok, Kalimpong and enjoyed the mixture of different types of accommodations by Anthony. From 5 stars hotel to a local tea Estate, an opportunity to get to know all aspects of West Bengal and Sikkim. It was exactly what we wanted, we wanted to get to know the natives, how they live, what they eat, what do they do, how do they spend their time and such. Now we are back in Luxembourg, a bit different from the eastern Himalayas and we already miss the lovely local people we had met and Anthony & the driver. They worked so hard for us and we truly appreciate it. Again, thank you Anthony for being our guide, we had never hired a guide before, thank you for showing us where you come from, you, the Gurkhas, will be greatly missed. Such kind-hearted, beautiful, joyful people. And yes, handmade momo were just perfect and lastly, in case anyone is interested, compare to Western Europe where we live, we felt much safer in the eastern Himalayan area. Everybody is so chillaxed and wherever you go, everybody knows everybody. Literally, it's an amazing thing to see.
