ABOUT US
Come explore Washington, DC and the Mid-Atlantic with us.
We create private tours for travelers who are curious about the places they visit and want time to understand their history, architecture, landscapes, people, and stories.
Our experiences include private driving tours, walking tours, and customized day trips throughout Washington and the surrounding Mid-Atlantic region.
WASHINGTON, DC
In Washington, we explore the National Mall and its monuments and memorials, Arlington National Cemetery, historic neighborhoods, architecture, museums, art, gardens, and the many layers of history that have shaped the nation’s capital.
Tours can range from focused walking experiences to private driving tours that allow us to cover more of the city comfortably while still leaving time to step out and explore important sites on foot.
MOUNT VERNON & OLD TOWN ALEXANDRIA
One of our signature day trips connects George Washington’s Mount Vernon with historic Old Town Alexandria.
Together, these places allow us to explore Washington’s world through the Potomac landscape, plantation and domestic life, slavery and labor, architecture, commerce, religion, civic life, and the eighteenth-century port city he knew so well.
MID-ATLANTIC JOURNEYS
We also create private journeys throughout the Mid-Atlantic according to your interests.
Possible destinations include:
• Gettysburg — battlefield history, the museum and Cyclorama, Soldiers’ National Cemetery, the town, and, by advance arrangement, family, ancestor, or regimental research
• Baltimore — Fort McHenry, Fell’s Point, the historic waterfront, African American history, architecture, art, neighborhoods, industry, railroads, food, and the city’s remarkable history of reinvention
• Annapolis and Maryland’s Eastern Shore
• Lancaster County, Pennsylvania
• Monticello, Charlottesville, and the world of Thomas Jefferson
• Shenandoah National Park, Skyline Drive, Luray Caverns, the Blue Ridge, and Virginia wine country
• The Brandywine Valley — art, gardens, architecture, decorative arts, historic estates, and the landscapes of southeastern Pennsylvania and Delaware
SPECIAL INTEREST TOURS
Special interests are always welcome.
Tours can be shaped around art, architecture, military history, African American history, family history, gardens, museums, food, wine, industry, geology, scenic landscapes, neighborhoods, or another subject that particularly interests your group.
OUR APPROACH
Our approach is interpretive.
We want you to understand why a place looks the way it does, what happened there, who shaped it, and how its stories connect to the larger history around it.
We also believe private touring should feel comfortable and thoughtfully paced.
Depending on the experience, there will be opportunities to walk through historic neighborhoods and sites, leave the vehicle to explore, take photographs, ask questions, and spend additional time on the subjects that interest you most.
Tours can be adjusted for your available time, interests, mobility, pace, weather, traffic, and site conditions.
PRIVATE DRIVING & WALKING TOURS
We offer both private driving tours and walking tours.
For driving tours, transportation can be arranged in a vehicle appropriate to the size of your group.Larger groups can also be accommodated with advance planning.
Walking tours are available in Washington, Baltimore, and selected historic neighborhoods and sites throughout the region.
