Itinerary
-
Day 1: Arusha - Lake Manyara National Park
You will be picked up by your driver/guide at the hotel in Arusha after breakfast. Start your 2-hour journey to Lake Manyara National Park. Lake Manyara National Park is one of the smallest but most diverse parks in Tanzania. The shallow and alkaline Lake Manyara covers a large area of the park and is the seasonal home to thousands of flamingos which create an illusion of beautiful pink shoreline. The Park is also home to more than 400 bird species as well as other wildlife.
Embark on your game drive and watch for troops of blue monkeys and baboons in the forest, giraffes, buffaloes, zebras and wildebeests on the grassy plains and elephants and lions in the acacia woodlands. The Park is famous for tree-climbing lions and if you are lucky, you might see them lounging in the trees. From the open rooftop of your safari vehicle, you will be able to comfortably watch the animals and absorb the stunning landscape of the Park and the Great Rift valley.
Exit the park after an extensive game drive and a picnic lunch and make your way to your accommodations in Karatu.
Stop at a viewpoint to enjoy the spectacular beauty of the lake and its surroundings on your way.
Dinner and overnight at Migombani Camp.
-
Day 2: Lake Manyara - Ngorongoro Crater
After morning breakfast, you will head to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.
Descend the crater which is approximately 600 meters deep and its floor covers 100 square miles. The Ngorongoro Crater is home to an amazing variety of animals.
On your game drive, you may possibly see all the Big Five (lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino and leopard), Grant’s and Thomson’s gazelles, mountain reedbucks and spotted hyenas. You may also see some of the over 500 bird species of the area.
Leave the crater later in the afternoon, after more game viewing and head to Mto wa Mbu.
Dinner and overnight at Migombani Camp.
-
Day 3: Ngorongoro Crater - Tarangire National Park - Arusha
Savour an early morning breakfast and you will continue your journey towards Tarangire National Park. The drive will take approximately1.5 hours. This park with its endless grasslands, giant baobab trees, the perennial Tarangire River and seasonal swamps is home to the largest elephant herds in northern Tanzania.
Wildlife gathers at the river and you may see elephants, giraffes, bushbucks, hartebeests, dik-diks, waterbucks, warthogs, and reedbucks all year round. The park is home to buffaloes, zebras and wildebeests which are closely followed by a range of predators such as lions, leopards and cheetahs though cheetahs are rarely spotted.
Exit the park after an extensive game drive and head back to Arusha town.
