The itinerary

1
Day 01

Cusco to Quiswarani via Calca and Lares

  • We will start our adventure by picking guests up from their hotel at 5:00 am and then head to the town of Calca.
  • We will make a brief stop for shopping and continue our trip to the thermal baths of Lares. There, you can enjoy a refreshing bath before starting our walk.
  • Then, we will continue towards Punta Highway at 3300 meters above sea level (10,827 ft), where we will prepare our luggage to begin the walk, with our riders and horses waiting for us. We will hike uphill for 2 hours until we reach Quiswarani, where a delicious lunch prepared by our cook will be served.
  • In the afternoon, we will have enough time to interact with the residents and learn more about their traditions and customs while our staff set up the tents for our first night of camping.

Later, we will have dinner and rest for the night while observing the stars and constellations.

Day 02

Quiswarani to Cancha Cancha via Paso Pachacutec

  • After breakfast, we will begin an intense 4-hour hike to the highest pass on our route, Paso Pachacutec, at 4700 masl (15,420 ft).
  • From the top, you can admire everything surrounding the valley, including snow-capped mountains, valleys, and lagoons.
  • Here, our cook will prepare a delicious lunch, and then we will continue our journey through the Lares Valley.
  • Continuing our trip, we will descend for 2 hours until we reach Cancha Cancha at 3700 masl (12,139 ft), where we will set up our tents. Throughout the journey, we will be able to enjoy the local flora and fauna, as well as llama and alpaca farms. You will also be able to interact with community members who speak Quechua, with our guide acting as interpreter.
  • You will have the opportunity to learn about the customs and traditions of the community, as well as its handmade textiles made with llama and alpaca wool.

Enjoy a dinner prepared by our cook and settle down to rest with hot drinks.

Day 03

Cancha Cancha to Aguas Calientes via Huaran and Ollantaytambo

  • Today, we will have our last hot drink accompanied by a delicious breakfast before starting our final walk. We will begin with a 3-hour downhill hike, accompanied by a beautiful river. Along the way, we will pass through small towns where traditional tools are still used for growing potatoes and other tubers.
  • Continuing our journey, we will walk through the Sacred Valley until we reach Huaran, where our transport will be waiting to take us to Ollantaytambo and our restaurant, where we can take the opportunity to wash up and enjoy a well-deserved rest.
  • Then, we will take the opportunity to visit the town of Ollantaytambo and its archaeological park.
  • After that, we will take the train to Machu Picchu, where we will have comfortable rooms to spend the night.

Day 04

Machu Picchu Guided Visit and Return to Cusco

  • After a nutritious breakfast, together with our guide, we will board our bus heading to the Inka Citadel of Machu Picchu for a 4-minute journey along the Hiram Bingham road.
  • At the Citadel, we will have a tour with our guide from the highest part of Machu Picchu, "La Casa del Guardian", from where we can appreciate the greatness of Machu Picchu.
  • From here, we will begin the descent to the lower part of the Citadel, passing through the agricultural and urban region and visiting the most important points, such as the stone quarry, the 3 windows, the Intihuatana, the Toreon ceremonial table, and the Condor Temple.
  • At the end of our visit, we will return by bus to Machu Picchu town, where we will have free time for personal activities until 30 minutes before the departure of the train back to Ollantaytambo.
  • From here, we will board our bus for the return to the hotel in Cusco.
