Begin your journey from Cusco to Mollepata Village and walk to the Soraypampa town at the height of 3850 msnm. Continue to the Pass of Salkantay, catch a beautiful view of the mountains, go to Challhuay to enjoy a walk in the forest, and descend to Winaypujio. See some artificial waterfalls in Santa Teresa, and then the most awaited Machu Picchu.

Day 1: Cusco - Mollepata (2900msnm) - Soraypampa (3850msnm) expand_more
Initiate much early with the pick up from your hotel in Cusco (between 04:00 to 05:00 am) and go towards the Mollepata Village passing earlier for picturesque towns like Poroy, Zurite and Limatambo. After 2 and a half hours of the trip, come to Mollepata, where you will enjoy a delightful breakfast.
From this point, walk up to the Soraypampa town in which you will camp and spend the first night. The walk is of intermediate level lasting approximately 6 hours.
Ascend from the Mollepata valley (2900 msnm) up to the heights of Soraypampa (3850 msnm).

Day 2: Soraypampa - Paso Salkantay (4600msnm) -Challhuay (3000 msnm) expand_more
After breakfast, initiate with a walk from Soraypampa, going towards the Pass of Salkantay (4600 msnm). The route is in the ascent trough of a bridle path. Stop at the Pass of Salkantay, where you will have an amazing sight of the Snow-capped mountain of the Salkantay.
After exploring the area and a brief guided tour, continue with a walk up to Challhuay (3000 msnm) and be in the part of the descent from the area of the puna.
Later, walk up to the eyebrow of the forest and notice the changes in the vegetation and the local fauna.
Have lunch and camp in Challhuay spending the second night here.

Day 3: Challhuay - La Playa (1900 msnm) expand_more
Enjoy a walk in the forest accompanied by fruit-bearing and medicinal trees and the local fauna.
The way will be in descent up to the Winaypujio town, passing earlier for Arranyanpata and Collpapampa.
In Winaypujio, enjoy a delightful lunch and rest for a few minutes.
Then, continue towards the "La Playa" sector, where you will have dinner and camp.

Day 4: La Playa - Santa Teresa - Aguas Calientes (2050 msnm) expand_more
This day, walk for approximately 10 minutes to tackle the tourist transport that will take you up to Santa Teresa place, where you take breakfast (07:30 am).
Walk up to the Hydroelectric Oroya observing some artificial waterfalls during your walk of 3 hours approximately.
Have lunch and rest to tackle the train to Aguas Calientes arriving at 17:00 hrs approximately. In Aguas Calientes, have dinner and spend the night in a basic hostel.

Day 5: Aguas Calientes - Cusco (3300 msnm) expand_more
After having breakfast in the basic hostel in Aguas Calientes, go to the bus station to reach Machu Picchu's citadel. Here, your Peruvian tour guide will explain everything about the site.
In the night, tackle the train towards Ollantaytambo, where your tourist transport will be waiting for you to return to the city of Cusco (comeback in Cusco after 00:00 hrs approximately).
* The mountain visits must be confirmed to Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu by reservation since they are subject to availability.
