Itinerary

1. Day 1: Arrival in Ulaanbaatar

   • Arrive in Ulaanbaatar and meet your guide for a transfer to the hotel.
   • Depending on your arrival time, enjoy a half-day city tour.
   • Visit the Gandan Monastery, home to the largest indoor Buddha statue and the centre of Buddhism in Mongolia.
   • Explore the National Museum to trace Mongolia’s history from the Stone Age to modern times.
   • Visit Sukhbaatar Square, also known as Chingis Khaan Square, the city’s central and historical landmark.
   • Meals included: Lunch and Dinner.

2. Day 2: Amarbayasgalant Monastery

   • After breakfast, drive to Amarbayasgalant Monastery, located 140 km southeast of Darkhan.
   • Discover one of Mongolia’s most important monasteries, built between 1727 and 1736 in honour of Saint Zanabazar, the first Bogd.
   • Explore over 50 temples that once housed 6,000 lamas.

   Overnight at a tourist camp.

3. Day 3: Uran Togoo Volcano

   • After breakfast, travel to Uran Togoo Volcano.
   • Hike up the dormant volcanic mountain, which rises 1,686 metres above sea level with a 50–60 metre deep crater.
   • Enjoy the beautiful surrounding landscapes.

   Overnight at Selenge Guesthouse.

4. Day 4: Khuvsgul Lake

   • Travel to Khuvsgul Lake, the cleanest lake in Central Asia.
   • Admire the lake’s crystal-clear waters and diverse fish species.
   • Learn about the Tsaatan tribes who inhabit the region.
   • Stay in a traditional Mongolian ger at Dalai Tour Camp.
   • Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner

5. Day 5: Reindeer Festival 2026

   • Attend the opening ceremony of the Reindeer Festival, celebrating folk art and nomadic culture.
   • Watch art performances by Khuvsgul artists and enjoy the holiday parade of nomads and reindeer herders.
   • Visit reindeer herders’ homes and learn about their unique lifestyle.
   • Take photos with reindeers and taste local dairy products.
   • Watch traditional wrestling and explore festival exhibitions and handicrafts.
   • In the evening, witness a shaman and fire festival ceremony.

   Overnight at the ger camp.

6. Day 6: Dalai Tour Camp and Festival Continuation

   • Begin the day early with a sunrise walk to a nearby mountain.
   • Attend national art performances such as Taigiin Songs Melody showcasing rural folk talents.
   • Join fun activities and local competitions.
   • Watch the reindeer herder’s movement along the Khuvsgul lakeshore and a traditional horse race in Khatgal Village.
   • Attend the closing ceremony featuring the Sea Melody performance and awards presentation.

7. Day 7: Flight to Ulaanbaatar

   • After breakfast, drive to Murun City and take a domestic flight back to Ulaanbaatar.
