Explore This Gateway Port City Between Africa & Europe
Get picked up from scheduled point in an air-conditioned minibus for a small group tour of Tangier. One of the best local guides of the city will accompany you during this excursion.
Explore the surrounding countryside and stop to visit the caves of Hercules on the Atlantic, associated with the Greek hero, Hercules. These remarkable caves look like the map of Africa. According to Greek legend, Hercules rested here after digging in the Strait of Gibraltar. From this point, you will have an exceptional view of the Strait of Gibraltar and the Atlantic Ocean.
Take a short camel ride and a drink before heading to the Kasbah, the 17th century fortified residential district of Tangier. It is a place of arcades with winding alleys and hidden terraces and its fortifications are remarkably well preserved. You will have many opportunities to take pictures.
Proceed to the fruit and vegetable market and the medina of Tangier (the old city).
Visit the old medina with its craft shops and admire its beautiful mosaic minaret overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. Boasting a rich Spanish heritage, Grand Socco is a place in the heart of Tangier. Go through Mendoubia Park, heading north to Grand Socco.
Find the famous Petit Socco with its multitude of small hotels that previously housed famous artists and writers such as Matisse, Camille Saint Saëns, and Paul Bowles.
