Itinerary
-
Day 1: Imlil - Sidi Chamarouch
Pick up from your hotel in Marrakech.
Transfer to the little village of Imlil.
Head along the Mizane Valley, pass the village of Aremd and then onto Sidi Chamarouch.
Continue east and cross the flood plains, along mule tracks and up into the high rocky cliffs above the valley.
Cross the river, come to the pastoral shrine of Sidi Chamarouch, which attracts tourists and pilgrims.
Climb steadily, snaking and zigzagging the way up to the snowline and the refuge (3206m).
Spend the night at camp.
-
Day 2: Jebel Toukbal - Marrakech
Go on the summit of Jebel Toukbal, the highest peak in Northern Africa.
Move up the south cirque, crossing the stream above the refuge. The walking is relatively straightforward, but the scenery and the altitude will make the going quite difficult in parts.
See the vistas across the surrounding landscape.
Enjoy the views in every direction, from the Marrakesh Plain to the High Atlas in the North and the Anti-Atlas and the Sahara.
Return down the mountain and head back towards Imlil.
Transfer back to Marrakech.
