As a professor of history and Croatian language and literature native island of my mother offered me a lot of challenges.By studying the microcosm of this hidden gem I realized that its unspoiled beauty and genuineness make the whole island an open air museum.As "The key to the Adriatic" island was under attack of a number of European maritime powers (Illyrians, Greeks, Romans, Byzantines, Croatian kingdom, Venetians, Britons, Austrians, Italians).Each conqueror has left a trace of their presence.Therefore is island carries the story of the whole Mediterranean.The feeling of jealousy perhaps is strongest driving force of my working as a tour guide on the island of Vis.I'm secretly jealous of each person who first came to this island because it meets for the first time with it's beauty.Showing island to many tourists I realized that with them each time again I experience my island.
