120km from Vancouver is Whistler, in Canada’s Coast Mountain Range. Long before European settlers arrived in the late eighteen hundreds, the Coast Salish First Nations people had lived their nomadic lifestyle around Whistler for many thousands of years. Early settlers named the place Whistler after the whistling sound made by the rock dwelling western hoary marmots.
