Sipadan, one of the top 5 diving sites beckon divers from all over while the island of Pangkor, more famous amongst the local Malaysians is gaining popularity amongst international travellers.

Malay Food

It’s well known that Malaysia has some of the most distinctive and tastiest cuisine in the world. Influenced by Malay, Chinese, Indian, Indonesian, Portuguese, Thai and Arabian cuisine, among many others, it’s safe to say you’ll be sure to taste some incredible combinations. From the regional varieties of the rice dish Nasi Lemak to the South Indian Banana Leaf Rice, the Beef Redang and the traditional Fish Head Curry, it really has it all…and it's all delicious. Street food is a common occurrence; ask your local guide for the ultimate Malaysian experience by showing you the best spots for food and their own personal recommendations. Alternatively you can head to some of the popular restaurants in the capital and there are plenty of options in-between the two. The mixtures of flavors create an unusual fusion unlike any you have had before.

 

The History..

Snake Temple

Malaysia is a perfect blend of Southeast Asian cultures, bringing influences from as far as China along with the surrounding countries. Temples scatter the landscape from the Buddhist and Hindu faiths; you could, if you have the nerve, visit the Snake Temple in Sungai Kluan, Penang where snakes inhabit every crevice. Elsewhere in Penang, the capital George Town brings a splashing of varied architectural styles and religious persuasions together. Visit Malacca to drop a coin at the famous wishing well in Bukit Cina or the St Paul Historical Complex, a legacy left behind by the Portuguese.

 

The City Life…

Kuala Lumpur

Kuala Lumpur, or ‘KL’ as it’s otherwise known is one of the world’s most cosmopolitan cities, bringing together the old and the new in spectacular fashion. Bustling shopping centers are packed close to vibrant bazars with mouthwatering street food and wonderful souvenirs. The Petronas Towers are worth a visit for their stunning views and the KL Monorail is the efficient way to get around the city.

 

The Orangutans!

You can’t think of Malaysian wildlife without the wonderful orangutan coming to mind. Found in Borneo these wonderful creatures will be swinging from the trees and hanging out in the luscious jungles. Whilst in Borneo you can take in come of the stunning views from Mt Kinabalu or go for a jungle trek to take in all the nature the country has to offer. If you fancy something a little smaller you could pay a visit to the world famous butterfly farm in Teluk Behang. Then, there are the thousands of coral reefs to explore around the islands and coastlines, which provide days of exploration.

The Adventures…

Diving

With such incredible natural beauty and wildlife it’s no wonder that Malaysia is the perfect place to have an adventure or two. Have a go at wreck diving in Pulau Redang, where among the wonderful coral reefs lies WWII historic shipwreck sites to explore. Trek through Taman Negara where one of the oldest rainforest and richest ecosystems lies waiting for you. Or visit the world’s largest cave chamber Mulu National Park in Sarawak.
