Itinerary
-
Hike through Zarnesti Canyon in Piatra Craiului National Parkexpand_more
The route starts near Zarnesti and takes hikers into the heart of the mountain, giving time for a refreshing tea (soup) at the mountain hut at 1400m. The return path can have an extension hike to reach one peak with great panoramic views. As Piatra Craiului is the mountain with the most challenging marked trails of Romania, there are several alternative unforgettable routes for day hikes available for the private tour, taking you to the highest peak or along the main ridge.
-
Explore Bucegi Natural Park expand_more
There is a ~1000m almost vertical drop all around the mountain. Once you find your way up, through breathtaking valleys or by use of cablecar from Busteni/Sinaia, and you are now above 2000m, the flat Plateau is the heart of Bucegi Mnt. It offers us easy walking from Cota 2000 to Babele or The Biddies, rock formations carved by nature. Nearby we take pictures with the well known "Sphynx" and we find out that the inner energy of the mountain is searched by lots of hikers. The optional route can take us to Omu Peak 2505m and Hut located at the highest altitude in the country.
-
Trek through Fagaras Mountainexpand_more
Even if we need a bit longer transfer for a day hike, we usually recommend accessing the mountain via the Transfagarasan Highway, reaching Balea Lake at 2035m high. From the glacier lake, there are a few good options for day hikes around the lake with stunning views or even a bit along the main ridge with an optional detour to a peak over 2500m. On a clear day, we can spot the Moldoveanu Peak, as the roof of Romania at 2544m.
-
Proceed to Piatra Mare Mntexpand_more
At not more than 1h walk, we reach the famous "7 ladders" canyon where water "washed" the way through the rocks forming a very narrow canyon. The water still falls beside your shoulder on the third ladder. You can continue the hike to the top of the mountain for panoramic views towards the bigger mountains nearby or just take the easy return trail back to the start.
-
Get to the peak of Ciucas Mountain expand_more
Starting the hike from a high point, the nearby road passes at 1135m alt. we continue to hike towards the peak along the ridgeline. A June hike reveals us slopes full of Rhododendron red flowers giving it the name The Red Mountain. Approaching the peak some rounded conglomerate rock formations are catching our admiration from all sides you look.
