Piazza del Popolo
Piazza del Popolo is one of Rome's most famous and grandiose squares, located at the northern entrance to the historic city center. The square is known for its striking symmetry and the twin churches of Santa Maria dei Miracoli and Santa Maria in Montesanto, which flank its entrance. At the center of the piazza stands an ancient Egyptian obelisk, which dates back to the 13th century BC, and was originally erected by Pharaoh Ramses II in Heliopolis before being brought to Rome by Emperor Augustus.
The square is also a gateway to Villa Borghese, a large public park that offers a beautiful retreat from the city.Visitors can also find the Pincio Terrace, which provides stunning panoramic views of the piazza and beyond. With its rich history, architectural beauty, and vibrant atmosphere, Piazza del Popolo is a must-visit location in the heart of Rome.

Piazza Augusto Imperatore
Piazza Augusto Imperatore is a historical square in the center of Rome, dedicated to Emperor Augustus.Located near Via del Corso and Piazza del Popolo, this square is home to the magnificent Mausoleum of Augustus, the largest mausoleum in ancient Rome. The mausoleum was built by Augustus himself as his final resting place, and it originally housed the tombs of the emperor and several of his family members.
The square also features the Ara Pacis, an altar dedicated to Pax, the Roman goddess of peace, which was commissioned by the Senate in 13 BCE to celebrate Augustus' return from his campaign in Spain and Gaul. The Ara Pacis Museum, designed by architect Richard Meier, houses this splendid altar and is an architectural masterpiece itself, juxtaposing modern design with ancient Roman heritage.

Piazza Navona
Piazza Navona is one of the most famous and beautiful squares in Rome, known for its stunning Baroque architecture and vibrant atmosphere. It was built on the site of the ancient Stadium of Domitian, which was used for athletic contests and could hold around 30,000 spectators. The square's oval shape and the outline of the ancient stadium are still visible today.
At the heart of Piazza Navona stands the Fountain of the Four Rivers (Fontana dei Quattro Fiumi), designed by the renowned architect Gian Lorenzo Bernini in the 17th century. The fountain features four river gods representing the four major rivers of the known world at the time: the Danube, Ganges, Nile, and Rio de la Plata.Bernini’s dramatic and dynamic design is one of the iconic symbols of Baroque art.
The square is also home to two other beautiful fountains: the Fontana del Moro and the Fontana di Nettuno. These fountains, also designed in the Baroque style, add to the square’s grandeur and charm.

Piazza Campo de' Fiori
Piazza Campo de' Fiori is a lively and historic square located in the heart of Rome, known for its vibrant atmosphere and rich history. Its name translates to "Field of Flowers," as it was once an open meadow before becoming a market square.
Today, Campo de' Fiori is famous for its bustling open-air market, which operates daily (except Sundays) and offers a wide variety of fresh produce, flowers, and local products. The market has been a fixture of Roman life for centuries, and strolling through it gives visitors a true taste of everyday Roman culture.
At the center of the square stands the monument to Giordano Bruno, an Italian philosopher and Dominican friar who was burned at the stake in 1600 for heresy, in a tragic event that took place in the square. His statue, erected in 1889, commemorates his courage in standing up for his beliefs and serves as a poignant reminder of the square's dark history.
