Day Trip to Troodos Mountain and Kykkos Monastery from Paphos
Description
Most of our trip will pass through the picturesque Troodos mountain range, famous for its magnificent green forests and clean mountain air. There, at the foot of the mountains among vineyards, lies Omodos village, protected by UNESCO (The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization).
We will walk through its narrow cobbled streets and visit Timios Stavros Monastery. The monastery is famous for containing a piece of the Holy Cross and Rope.
We will also stop at the winery, where you will have a chance to taste Commandaria and Zivania among other local wines.
Also, we will drive through the mountain villages of Pedoulas and Prodromos and go to the top of Mount, where we will visit the Tomb of Archbishop Makarios, the first president of Cyprus.
We will visit the island’s richest and most famous monastery, Kikkos Monastery. Here one of the miraculous icons of the Virgin Mary is kept, which is said to have been painted by St Lucas during her lifetime.
You will also have a chance to visit the Birthplace of APHRODITE – this is one of the most stunning places on the coast of Cyprus, where, and for a good reason, Aphrodite emerged from the sea foam. It is believed that bathing in these waters prolongs youth and beauty – we will have the opportunity to make sure of this ourselves.
