Appleton Estateexpand_more
After purchasing tickets, travellers collect their welcome drink at the bar area before meeting the tour guide who starts the tour with an introduction of the property and pictures of the master blender Joy Spence, after which visitors watch a short film on the history of rum-making at Appleton Estate.
After watching the film visitors are taken back in time to see how the cane was milled before the use of a machine, by visiting Paz the donkey at his station. Then its time to get a lesson on sugar cane and samples to chew on.
Next, its time to make your own sugar cane juice by volunteering to be Paz, turning the hand mill when the cane is inserted. When enough juice is squeezed visitors get a glass of this sweet refreshing juice to sample before moving on to the molasses station for sampling.
Next is the tour of the factory to see the operation before moving on to the ageing house where thousands of barrels stock from floor to ceiling are ageing. The final stop is in a cool comfortable room where visitors are given lesson and sampling of three major Appleton Estate Rum.
