What to bring

Clothing: Pack lightweight, casual clothing in neutral colors (khaki, tan, olive) for game drives. Layering is key, so bring a fleece or jacket for cool mornings and evenings.
Footwear: Comfortable, closed-toe walking shoes or sneakers are recommended for game drives and walking safaris. Sandals or flip-flops are great for relaxing at the lodge.
Sun Protection: A wide-brimmed hat, sunglasses, and high-SPF sunscreen are essential.
Electronics: A good camera with a zoom lens, extra batteries, memory cards, and a pair of binoculars for close-up viewing.
Health: Any personal medication, a basic first-aid kit, and effective insect repellent.
Other: A small daypack, a flashlight, and a copy of all travel documents.

Know before you go

Accommodation: This tour features the Sopa Lodge chain, which provides a consistently high level of comfort, service, and amenities.
Flexible Schedule: The itinerary for Days 2 and 6 is flexible. You can discuss your preferences with your guide to tailor the game drive times to your liking.
Tipping: Tipping is not included and is a customary way to show appreciation for good service. A guideline of US$10-20 per person per day for your driver/guide is common.
Drinks: While bottled drinking water is provided, all other beverages, including soft drinks, alcoholic beverages, and other drinks, are not included in the tour price.
Travel Documents: As of January 2024, a valid Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) is required for most visitors to Kenya. Be sure to apply for this well in advance of your travel date.
Luggage: For overland safaris, it is recommended to use soft-sided bags for easier storage in the safari vehicle.
