What to bring

  • Clothing: Pack comfortable, lightweight clothing in neutral safari colours (khaki, tan, olive). A jacket or sweater is essential for cool mornings. Avoid bright colours and camouflage prints.
  • Footwear: Sturdy, closed-toe shoes are recommended for game drives. Sandals or flip-flops are useful for relaxing at the camp.

  • Sun Protection: A wide-brimmed hat, sunglasses, and high-SPF sunscreen are vital.

  • Electronics: A good camera with a zoom lens, extra batteries, and memory cards are a must. Bring binoculars for a closer look at distant animals.

  • Health: Bring any personal medication, a basic first-aid kit, and an effective insect repellent.

  • Other: A small day backpack, a flashlight or headlamp, and a copy of your passport.

Know before you go

  • Road Conditions: The journey between parks involves long drives on roads that can be bumpy, especially closer to the reserves. Travel is an integral part of the safari experience.
  • Accommodations: The lodges and camps are mid-range, offering comfortable and clean rooms with the necessary amenities. They are well located for optimal game viewing.

  • Tipping: Tipping your driver/guide and lodge staff is customary for good service. A common guideline is US$10 per person, per day.

  • Drinks: The tour includes bottled drinking water. All other beverages, including soft drinks and alcohol, are at your own expense.

  • Physical Activity: The safari is primarily a relaxed experience with game drives. There is minimal walking, but guests should be able to get in and out of the safari vehicle easily.

  • Flexibility: The itinerary for Days 2 and 3 is flexible, allowing you to discuss and adjust the schedule with your guide to suit your interests.
