Day 01

Arrival in Arusha and Safari Briefing

  • Receive a detailed safari briefing from your guide.

Tarangire National Park Game Drive

  • Enjoy breakfast at the hotel.
  • Drive to Tarangire National Park, about 150 km from Arusha.

  • Continue with an afternoon sunset game drive.

Know before you go

  • A valid passport with at least six months' validity and a return or onward ticket is required to enter Tanzania.

  • Most visitors need a visa, which can be obtained online, at Tanzanian embassies, or upon arrival at designated entry points.

  • Proof of yellow fever vaccination may be required if arriving from countries with transmission risks.

  • Malaria is common below 1,800 metres. Use insect repellent, wear long sleeves, sleep under mosquito nets, and consult your doctor about antimalarial medication.

  • Typhoid fever is present in Tanzania. Vaccination, safe food and water practices, and good hand hygiene are recommended.

  • Local currency is the Tanzanian Shilling (TSh). ATMs are widely available, and major cards like Visa, Mastercard, and American Express are accepted.

  • Banks are generally open from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM on weekdays and from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Saturdays.

  • Tanzania has three international airports: Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), Julius Nyerere International Airport (DAR), and Zanzibar International Airport.

  • Driving is on the left side of the road. An international driving licence is required for car hire.

  • Tanzania is generally safe for tourists. Exercise standard precautions such as avoiding isolated areas at night and keeping valuables secure.

  • Tap water is not safe to drink. Stick to bottled or filtered water, and exercise caution with food and ice.

  • The best time to visit is during the dry season, from June to October, when wildlife viewing is at its peak.

  • Lightweight, breathable clothing is recommended for summer, while sweaters and jackets are useful for winter and autumn evenings.

  • A hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, walking shoes, and a swimming costume are essential.

  • Tanzania uses Type D and Type G plugs, with a voltage of 230V and frequency of 50Hz. Bring a suitable adapter and voltage converter if necessary.

  • Drones are prohibited in all national parks unless a special permit is obtained from TANAPA.

  • Carrying or transporting wildlife products (government trophies) without a permit is illegal and strictly enforced.

  • Always ask permission before photographing local people to show respect for their culture and privacy.

  • Tipping safari driver-guides is customary, with $10-20 per person per day recommended for small groups. Lodge staff may be tipped via a communal tip box.

  • Tanzania operates on East Africa Time (GMT+3) and does not observe daylight saving time.
