2-Hour Washington National Cathedral Tour with Tower and Crypt

The Cathedral does not permit guided tours on Sundays. There are no exceptions to this.

Additionally, we do not operate tours on special dates or holidays, such as New Year's Day or Thanksgiving.

We will look closely at why the Cathedral was designed in this style, how its architecture works, how light and stained glass shape the interior, and how the building reflects changing ideas about faith, national memory, art, and identity. Beginning in the great Nave, we will examine the Cathedral’s scale, stonework, vaulting, windows, chapels, memorials, carvings, and architectural details.

Depending on access and current conditions, we may also explore areas such as the Children’s Chapel, the Bishop’s Garden, the Norman Court, and other parts of the Cathedral close. Along the way, we will discuss both historic and contemporary stained glass, including the famous Space Window and the Cathedral’s newer windows, and consider how the building continues to evolve.

Because this is a private tour, we can spend more time on the subjects that interest you most: architecture, stained glass, history, craftsmanship, symbolism, religious art, national memory, gardens, or the stories of the people represented throughout the Cathedral.
