Mutianyu is about a 70-minute drive from the airport, approximately 65 kilometres away.
The Forbidden City is about 30 kilometres from the airport, and it will take about one to two hours by car depending on the traffic situation.
ATMs of various banks and Starbucks are available in the airport waiting hall, and cash is the preferred mode of payment in China, including Beijing.
Winter in Beijing is rather cold. It can average minus 7 degrees and drop as low as minus 14 during the coldest period, which is usually in January. Warm clothes, a hat, and gloves are suggested, especially for those from tropical areas.
