Arrival at Kilimanjaro Airport and Transfer to Moshi

  • Arrival at Kilimanjaro Airport and transfer to hotel in Moshi.

Marangu Gate Registration and Rainforest Trek to Mandara Hut

  • Drive to Marangu Gate and register at the park office.
  • Trek through lush montane rainforest with unique flora and wildlife.

  • Arrive at Mandara Hut after 4-5 hours of hiking.

  • Hiking Time: 4-5 hours | Distance: 7 km | Altitude: 1,830 m to 2,740 m | Environment: Rainforest

Ascent Through Moorland to Horombo Hut

  • Ascend from rainforest to alpine meadows and open heathland.
  • Pass giant heather and enter the moorland zone.

  • Reach Horombo Hut after 5-6 hours of hiking.

Cross the Alpine Desert to Kibo Hut

  • Trek through rugged terrain with giant groundsels and lobelias.
  • Skirt Mawenzi Peak and cross the alpine desert saddle.

  • Arrive at Kibo Hut for rest before the summit attempt.

  • Hiking Time: 6-7 hours | Distance: 10 km | Altitude: 3,700 m to 4,695 m | Environment: Semi-Desert

Day 05

Midnight Summit Push to Uhuru Peak and Descent to Horombo Hut

  • Midnight summit push via Hans Meyer Cave and Gilman's Point.
  • Witness sunrise over Mawenzi Peak.

  • Continue along the crater rim to Uhuru Peak (5,895 m).

  • Descend to Kibo Hut for rest, then continue to Horombo Hut.

  • Hiking Time: 11-15 hours | Distance: 18.5 km | Altitude: 4,695 m to 5,895 m (summit) to 3,700 m | Environment: Alpine Desert to Moorland

Day 06

Final Rainforest Descent to Marangu Gate and Return to Moshi

  • Final descent through rainforest, passing Mandara Hut.
  • Collect summit certificates at Marangu Gate.

  • Transfer back to Moshi for celebration and rest.
