Tunis - Kairouan - Sbeïtla - GafsaThe first day of your tour through southern Tunisia begins with an early departure from Tunis. You will take the road to Kairouan, one of the most historic and spiritual cities of Tunisia, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Kairouan is considered the fourth holiest city in Islam, after Mecca, Medina and Jerusalem. During your visit, you will discover the majestic Grand Mosque of Kairouan, an architectural masterpiece dating from the 9th century, as well as the Aghlabid basins and the picturesque medina, with its local souks and craftsmen.After a morning of discovery in Kairouan, you will continue your journey to Sbeïtla, a city rich in Roman remains. Here you will visit the archaeological site of Sbeitla, which houses the impressive ruins of three Roman temples dedicated to Jupiter, Juno and Minerva. This historic site will allow you to immerse yourself in the history of Roman civilization and discover monuments such as the triumphal arch and Christian basilicas.In the afternoon, head to Gafsa, the gateway to southwestern Tunisia. Gafsa is an ancient and strategic city, located in the heart of the oasis of the same name. Upon arrival, you can relax and enjoy a visit to the Gafsa palm grove, a peaceful place where dates are grown and where there are several natural springs of water. Gafsa is also an excellent starting point for exploring the surrounding desert landscapes. You will spend the night in Gafsa, soaking up the tranquil atmosphere of this oasis city, before resuming your adventure the next day. Day 02

Gafsa - Chebika - Tamaghza - Mides - NGO JmelThe second day of your tour begins with an early morning departure from Gafsa to the mountain oases of southern Tunisia, real natural gems with spectacular scenery and stunning views. 1. Chebika Your first stop will be Chebika, a picturesque oasis village at the foot of the Atlas Mountains. You will take a short hike in this oasis, known for its streams and waterfalls that sneak through the mountains. The village offers breathtaking views of the surrounding arid landscapes, and its green palm groves contrast beautifully with the ocean color of the rocky mountains. Chebika is also famous for its ancient Berber constructions and cave houses, dwellings dug into the rock.2. Tamaghza Continue your journey to Tamaghza, a small village nearby, just as fascinating. Here you will discover a unique blend of tradition and nature, with typical cave dwellings and superb views of the surrounding mountains. Tamaghza is also known for its natural fountains that feed the oasis, offering a striking contrast to the arid desert that surrounds itThen, towards Mides, another emblematic village of the region. Tozeur - Visit of the medina - Horse-drawn carriage ride in the palm grove - Chott El Djérid - TwelveThe third day of your tour takes you to Tozeur, a fascinating city, a real gateway to the Tunisian desert. After a hearty breakfast, you will start a day full of discoveries, combining history, nature and culture. 1. Visit of the medina of Tozeur Your first stop will be the Medina of Tozeur, a true open-air museum. This historic district, with its narrow alleys and houses with earthen brick facades, is a perfect example of traditional architecture in southern Tunisia. You will discover monuments such as the city mosque and the market square, where craftsmen and traders meet in a lively and colorful atmosphere. Do not miss strolling through the souks of the medina, where you will find local handicrafts, such as Berber carpets, pottery and traditional jewelry.2. Horse-drawn carriage ride in the palm grove Then you will embark on a carriage ride through the palm grove of Tozeur, one of the largest in Tunisia. With its thousands of date palms, this lush oasis seems to come straight out of a fairy tale. The walk will allow you to discover the striking contrast between the green palm trees and the vastness of the desert that stretches as far as the eye can see. Twelve - Ksar Ghilane - Ksar Hadada - CheniniIn the morning, after a good breakfast, you will leave for Ksar Ghilane, a real desert oasis located about 100 km south of Douz. Ksar Ghilane is an ideal destination for those who want to discover an authentic desert, away from the tourist crowds. This site is renowned for its hot springs that feed a green oasis. Once there, you can enjoy a relaxing swim in the thermal waters or explore the surrounding oasis. If you wish, a camel or quad ride (optional and payable on site) in the surrounding dunes will offer you a magical and contemplative moment in the heart of the Sahara.From Ksar Ghilane, you will continue your adventure towards Ksar Hadada, an ancient Berber ksar that is definitely worth a visit. This well-preserved site is known for its impressive architecture, including its stone and earthen fortified attics. Ksar Hadada was also the setting for several scenes in the Star Wars movie, making it an even more fascinating place for moviegoers. You will explore the cave structures and secret rooms of this fortified village, and discover the fascinating history of the Berber populations who inhabited this area for centuries. Chenini is an ideal place to discover the traditional life of Berbers and their ingenious way of adapting their habitat to the desert environment. Visit the Chenini ksar, a fortified village built on several levels and surrounded by terraced farmland. Chenini - Ksar Ouled Dabbeb - MatmataYour day starts with the departure from Chenini, where you will have the opportunity to enjoy the spectacular views of the village and its surroundings. Then head to Ksar Ouled Dabbeb, another fascinating example of traditional architecture from southern Tunisia. This ksar is known for its fortified granaries, which were once used to store crops and protect the community from attack. The village was also used as a setting for iconic Star Wars scenes, including the sets for Anakin Skywalker's home on the planet Tatooine. The site is largely abandoned, which creates a mysterious and calm atmosphere. You can explore the deserted alleyways and discover the buildings carved directly into the rock, admiring the panoramic views of the surrounding landscapes. This site offers an intimate atmosphere, ideal for a contemplative break before continuing your itinerary.Continue your journey to Matmata, a village famous all over the world for its cave houses, real underground dwellings carved into the hills. Matmata - El Jem - TunisAfter a quiet breakfast in Matmata, you will take the road towards El Jem, located about 2 hours north. This city is famous for its Roman amphitheatre, one of the best preserved in the world, and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The El Jem amphitheatre dates from the 3rd century and could accommodate up to 35,000 spectators. Its size and magnificence are impressive, and it remains one of the largest remains of the Roman Empire in North Africa. You will explore the different galleries and imagine the gladiatorial shows and other events that took place there in the past. In addition to the amphitheatre, you can also visit the El Jem Museum, which houses exceptional archaeological collections, including ancient mosaics and everyday objects dating from the Roman period. The El Jem site offers you a journey back in time, where you can get a close look at the history of the Roman Empire.After exploring El Jem and enjoying its ancient atmosphere, you will hit the road to Tunis, the capital of the country.
