Itinerary

1. Day 1: Karatu or Arusha to Ngorongoro Crater to Serengeti National Park

   • Begin the safari adventure with an early morning departure from your hotel in Arusha or Karatu.

   • Travel towards the Ngorongoro Conservation Area through cool February morning temperatures and possible mist over the lush highland forests.

   • Observe olive baboons and blue monkeys in the trees, along with silvery-cheeked hornbills and Hartlaub's turacos in the forest canopy.

   • Descend into the Ngorongoro Crater, a haven for wildlife during the wildebeest calving season.

   • Witness lions near their kills, elephants among buffalo herds, and the rare black rhino if fortunate.

   • See hippos in the Lerai Forest pools and flamingos decorating Lake Magadi.

   • Look for Kori bustards in the grasslands and yellow-billed kites circling above your picnic lunch area around 15:00.

   • Continue the journey towards Serengeti National Park through the Ndutu area, where the Great Migration herds gather with newborn calves.

   • Spot predators such as cheetahs, lions, and hyenas attracted by the abundance of prey.

   • Enjoy an evening game drive in Serengeti, observing topi on termite mounds, bat-eared foxes, and lilac-breasted rollers in the acacia trees.

   • Arrive at Sidai Lodge or African Kongoni Camp for overnight stay, listening to the sounds of hyenas in the night.

2. Day 2: Serengeti Full-Day Game Drive to Karatu or Arusha

   • Begin the day with a sunrise game drive in Serengeti National Park, observing the predator and prey dynamics in action.

   • Explore the Seronera Valley, known for lions lounging on granite kopjes, or visit the Ndutu Plains to witness the newborn wildebeest and zebras.

   • Search for leopards in sausage trees and cheetahs scanning the grasses for Thomson's gazelles.

   • Observe diverse birdlife including superb starlings, Fischer's lovebirds, and vultures circling above fresh kills.

   • Enjoy a bush lunch beneath an acacia tree with the chance to spot playful dwarf mongooses nearby.

   • Begin the journey back to Karatu around 15:00 through the scenic Ngorongoro Highlands.

   • Watch for augur buzzards riding the thermals as you ascend.

   • Arrive back in Karatu or Arusha by evening as temperatures cool to approximately 18°C.

   • End the safari with memories of extraordinary landscapes and remarkable wildlife encounters.
