Upper Egypt Tombs and Ancient Sites Tour
Pick up from Cairo in the morning and travel to El Minya by private air-conditioned van.
Arrive in El Minya after a 4-hour drive.
Start your day tour with a visit to Beni Hassan, the site of almost 40 tombs from the 11th and 12th Dynasty. Unfortunately, only four of them are accessible to visitors.
Continue to the Tuna El Gebel area, which was the cultural centre where pilgrims paid homage to God Thoth. Here, priests sacrificed ibis and baboons, then mummified them and entombed them in the catacombs.
Move on to Tell El Amarna, where King Akhnaton and his wife, Queen Nefertiti, founded the city in dedication to the cult of their new god, Aton. Today, this city is the site of the most romantic era of pharaonic history.
Finally, you will be escorted back to your hotel in Cairo.
