Itinerary

1. Day 1 – Fly from Addis Ababa to Mekele and Drive to Hawzen

   • Take a morning flight from Addis Ababa to Mekele.

   • Meet your guide upon arrival and begin the drive to Hawzen.

   • Stop to visit the partially rock-carved church of Wukro Cherkos.

   • Explore the historic Abraha Atsbeha Church, one of Ethiopia’s earliest churches, beautifully adorned inside.

   • Visit Dugum Sellase before continuing to Hawzen.

   • Arrive in Hawzen and settle in for the night.

2. Day 2 – Explore Debre Tsion Abune Abreham Monastery

   • Take a day trip to Debre Tsion Abune Abreham Monastery, carved entirely out of solid rock.

   • Discover Yohannes Makudi, an ancient Ethiopian Coptic Christian church reached via a narrow passage between tall sandstone walls.

   • Learn about the region’s religious heritage and admire the artistry of the structures.

   • Return to Hawzen for an overnight stay.

3. Day 3 – Visit Debre Mariam Korkor and Abba Daniel’s Prayer Room

   • Drive to the base of Geraltha to visit the 6th-century Debre Mariam Korkor Monastery.

   • Enjoy the climb and take in panoramic views along the way.

   • Walk a short distance from Mariam Korkor to see the small rock church known as Abba Daniel’s Prayer Room.

   • Return to Hawzen in the afternoon.

   • Spend the night in Hawzen.

4. Day 4 – Return to Addis Ababa

   • Drive from Hawzen to Mekele and take a flight back to Addis Ababa.

   • Transfer to the airport for your international departure.
