Itinerary

1. Day 1: Travel from Kigali to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

   • Begin the day with a pickup from Kigali International Airport or your hotel in downtown Kigali.

   • Travel northwest through Rwanda’s beautiful countryside toward Ruhengeri, the gateway to Volcanoes National Park.

   • Continue the journey by looping around the Virunga Mountains and crossing into Uganda via the Cyanika or Katuna border posts.

   • Pass through the scenic towns of Kisoro and Kabale, enjoying spectacular views of rolling hills, Lake Bunyonyi, and lush greenery.

   • Arrive in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park by early afternoon and check in to your lodge.

   Spend the afternoon at leisure or choose from several optional activities including:

   • Hike through the hills surrounding Bwindi

   • Visit the Batwa community to learn about their traditional forest lifestyle

   • Join a coffee-making tour and discover the local farming culture

   • Enjoy a canoe ride on Lake Mutanda with panoramic mountain views

   • Return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

2. Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

   • Wake up early and have breakfast at the lodge.

   • Proceed to the park headquarters for a detailed briefing on gorilla trekking etiquette, safety measures, and group assignments.

   • Set out with professional trackers and guides into the dense forest to locate a habituated gorilla family.

   • Trek through rugged terrain, climbing and descending hills, as you navigate thick vegetation in pursuit of the gorillas.

   • Spend one magical hour observing the gorillas in their natural environment, witnessing their behaviors and family dynamics.

   • Return to the starting point and transfer back to the lodge for a hot meal and some rest.

   • Spend the evening relaxing or reflecting on the once-in-a-lifetime experience.

3. Day 3: Optional Activities & Return to Kigali

   • Begin the final day with an early breakfast at the lodge.

   Choose from a variety of optional morning activities before departing Bwindi, including:

   • Golden Monkey Trekking in Mgahinga Gorilla National Park

   • The Batwa Trail Cultural Tour in Mgahinga

   • Visit to a local Batwa village

   • Canoe trekking on Lake Mutanda

   • Coffee-making experience with local farmers

   • Mabungo Community Village Tour in Kisoro

   • Depart from Bwindi and begin the return drive to Kigali, passing through the scenic landscapes of southwestern Uganda and northern Rwanda.

   • Arrive in Kigali by late afternoon or early evening.

   • Transfer to your hotel or to Kigali International Airport for your departure flight.
