Itinerary

Day 1: Fly Addis Ababa to Gondar, Drive to Sankaber
- Fly from Addis Ababa to Gondar.
Meet your guide at Gondar Airport or hotel.
Drive 100 km to Debark, taking approximately two hours.
Obtain park permits and meet your scout at the park headquarters.
Continue driving for one hour to reach the trailhead.
Begin an introductory hike along the northern escarpment.
Admire views of the foothills and northern Ethiopian plains.
Observe Gelada baboons along the trail.
Stay overnight at Sankaber Camp.

Day 2: Sankaber to Gich
- Begin trekking east along the northern escarpment.
Descend into the Kaba Valley and ascend toward Gich Abyss.
Cross a narrow ridge offering views of the Simien foothills.
Witness the impressive Jinbar Waterfall plunging 500 meters into the gorge.
Continue trekking for two hours and stop for lunch by the Jinbar River.
Pass through barley fields en route to Gich village.
Participate in a traditional coffee ceremony with local residents.
Hike up to Kedadit for sunset views over the eastern cliffs.
Return to camp for dinner and rest at Gich Camp.

Day 3: Gich to Chennek
- Trek through fields of Giant Lobelia toward the cliffs of Imet-Gogo (3,926 m).
Absorb panoramic views of mountain valleys and distant volcanic domes.
Descend into the Jinbahir River Valley for a different vantage of Imet-Gogo.
Follow the escarpment’s edge, ascending to a 4,070-meter summit.
Stop for lunch at the summit.
Descend for two hours along a steep trail to Chennek Camp.
Observe the landscape from the escarpment bench.
Spot Walia Ibex in the late afternoon.
Spend the night at Chennek Camp.

Day 4: Chennek to Gondar
- Hike up to Buwahit Peak (4,430 m), the second highest in the Simien range.
Enjoy views of the surrounding highlands and peaks.
Attempt to spot the rare Walia Ibex along the trail.
Catch a glimpse of Ras Dejen (4,543 m), Ethiopia’s highest peak.
Return to Chennek Camp.
Drive approximately four hours back to Gondar for your overnight stay or departure.
