Walk around the town and visit the main place of Tzotzil religious worship - the Church of John the Baptist. The local religion is a combination of the Catholic faith and ancient paganism.
Proceed to San Cristobal de las Casas, the cultural capital of Chiapas state, where numerous indigenous tribes live alongside Europeans. The city has a wonderful atmosphere, with plenty of cafes and jazz clubs playing live music. Moreover, San Cristobal is the place to try some of the best Mexican coffee.
